Having Problems With Wrye Bash

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 4:01 am

I'm trying to install FCOM. Had it on and working about a year ago and I thought I remembered what to do but obviously not. Got a clean install of GotY but I am running 64bit Vista, heard conflicting opinions on how much of an effect that has.
Basically, I was following the instructions from the Wrye website, downloaded the bundle of Python software and let that install with it's default settings. The site's link to download Wrye Bash itself has expired so I downloaded the installer version from FilePlanet. When I went to install it, it told me it was still missing the three Python components so I let it add them as well, letting it overwrite were it asked to. But now if I try and run Wrye Bash, nothing happens. At all. Any ideas?

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1166379-relz-wrye-bash-thead-60/. Use the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 downloads, i.e. the WryePython03a package and WB 291.

Thank you. Before I do, though, do I need to remove any of the Python/Wrye stuff I've already installed? If so, how much?

Yes. It would be a good idea to remove all the Python related stuff. You don't need to remove Wyre Bash though.

Hang on though... surely if I remove the Python files but leave Wrye Bash it won't have the components it needs? Or does the 03a package fix it?

Uninstall the old version of Python and then run the 03a installer and you should be just fine. If after you do this and Wrye Bash won't start then you most likely have a temp file that is telling it that there is already a session of Bash running. Go into the Mopy subdirectory and look for and delete the file with the .tmp extension. Then happy bashing.

Thanks people, Wrye is now running properly and I can continue the whole FCOM process. So I'm sure I'll be back here before long with another issue. =)
