Having A Wife

IT WOULD BE OPTIONAL!!!!
Nobody seems to get that...

Yes. It would be optional. Just like:

-A side quest for which the reward is a machine gun.
-Cooking and cleaning quests
-"9 to 5 quests", wherein your character must go to the local shop and perform a menial task for 8 real-time hours. Better hope not to get the randomly-assigned "Overtime" quest!

Domestic life does not belong in the Elder Scrolls series. Not to such a blatant extent as this.

This is coming from a guy that spends a lot of his time re-organizing the stuff in his house.

The Elder Scrolls is in the Pen and Paper RPG tradition. Not the "Imagine: Babies" tradition. High adventure and magic is the order of the day, not mundane interactions with family.

Don't need a wife, girl friend, pet or any other nusance in my RPG's.

It's a waste of time and a waste of code.

Just the fact that it's in the game is what does it! I don't care if it's optional. It would just be bad if it was in the game, optional or not. I'll say it again. This isn't Sims!

I vote No. I've got a Wife in real life, dont' need one in my RPG. If folks want the option, I guess a romantic thing could happen, but I really don't see the point in wasting time on it. It would be interesting to see what the replies were for all the folks that are married. I'd just about bet most of them voted No. ;)

Totally uninterested. A wife would just remind me of Fable, and that's an unwelcome memory.

I'm all for it, but I want to be able to have multiple, and I wanna nail them as well! When I get tired of their nagging I wanna take them out to pasture.

I wouldn't mind it. Political marriages to strengthen faction ties and destroys feuds, or to alienate other groups. Would be alright with all of those kingdoms in Skyrim (I think). If it took 3/4 of the game, constantly building the relationships with people, and one/some of them becoming romantic (I don't know how, since everyone here likely has different tastes - aside from the sixy, smart and witty bits) then I wouldn't be entirely against it.

I don't see any good that could come from this
1. same six marriages allowed? if not controversy if so controversy
2. wth would a wife DO?
3. waste of programming in my humble opinion

Might work if they fleshed it out.
If there was more a political side to TES V, then a wife might fit.
After all, it'd be fun if there was a quest involving you attending some political function and then having it turn into a bloodbath.

This goes for Oblivions fast travel system aswell and yet, people complain. I can understand people who complain about that it could have been done better like in Morrowind with the Stilt Rider, i agree with them, it could. But people who complain that it just is there, please, its not Bethesdas fail you cant stop using it. learn to control yourself. HOEVER. i understand why people reject "you dont have to use it" as an answer. If you dont like it, it would be a waste of time and money in your eyes, time and money they could have spend on something who is actually important.

Dont get me wrong. I think the option should be there but its the same reason why i dont want a TES MMO or any kind of Multiplayer option. Sure i dont need to buy a MMO or use the multiplayer option, but if they had spend the time on the singleplayer experience instead, the game might had been better.

There are many Companion Romance mods out there for Oblivion and a few for Morrowind. Looking at the poll, there are plenty of players who'd be happy to have a "Getting Married" quest. If it was well done, I'd play it; if not, I'd ignore it. Just like any other side quest.

Marriage doesn't have to mean the end of the story. Druss the Legend, Rod Gallowglass, Conrad Stargard, Harold Shea, Tarzan, John Carter, King Arthur, the Duke of Mount Deer, and a very long list of other heroes kept adventuring long after they were married; no reason my character can't do the same.

not sure about this
it was done in fable 2 and was appropriate, but nothing special
don't know if it would suit TES rpg style, but maybe Bethesda can make it work
whatever they would do, i'd be interested to see it

Sarcasm noted. you believe that marriage means that you must 'settle' in order for it to work, true?. This may be the case in real life but don't forget that its a game and as such a great many things are possible that may not 'work' in real life. Fable 2 was a recently released game that allowed players to marry yet retain quite a measure of their freedom, so it is possible and could make the game just a little more interesting for those few people that harbor sixual attractions to female/male pieces of code.

i'm still not convinced this whole thing would work
quest related marriage is the only thing that would make sense to me
i'm too afraid it would become like Fable 2

there [censored] morons if they complain about that or [censored] also i realize this is being censored

besides that if they make the women more atractive will help the game from normal gaming to perverts
