Havok friendly Bobble-Heads Modders Resource

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:02 am

This was, in a round about way, a request so, I've added Havok collisions to all 20 bobblehead nifs as a modders resource.

If anyone needs any static objects transformed into the Havok world please PM me, I need more practice with both blender and, nifscope. :brokencomputer:

Feel free to use this as you see fit in your mods. Just, please give credit where credit is do.

Nice job :D Do they all say "Toy Car", or was that just the test images you took earlier?

Those screens were only from my test. I only mocked them up to make sure they worked properly, drop sounds and all.

the download only contains the .nif's, no esp's, you'll have to implement them yourself.

Miss Sparkle, I know you know how to do this so, have fun with them.

Edit: I was kind of thinking about doing a little retexture from vault 101 to vault 13 as a nod to the upcoming New Vagus. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll add it.

Ahh good :D If anyone needs an idea for them, they would make some great chess pieces lol!! I do have a mod that I am ready to release, so I may just add these into them as chess pieces, sure beats the cones and gnomes as the game pieces anyways :D

[EDIT to add]
I just thought of something that you can havok! Some mods have a fireplace, so you could havok some wood pieces that we can 'add' to the fire.

There full bobblehead size now, if you scale them in the GECK and someone takes them home the will revert back to there default size once dropped.

If you need them smaller to fit the chess board let me know I can do a new version in about 10 min.

This was an early issue I had, my protectron toys kept returning to full size once you placed them on a shelf and left your home. It took a bit to learn enough in blender to solve this issue.

now it's easy. :celebration:

If you don't mind, I would love chess board size pieces, though it would be funny to read the reports of chess pieces gone mad in my mod :hubbahubba: I remember working with the sizes of things in nifskope, but it has been about a year since I did it. Though it is like riding a bike, give me 2 min with nifskope and I am sure I would find it again :D All up to you, if you have other projects, I could just do them myself :)

No trouble, I'll do them tomorrow.

I've ben feeling a little burned out on my mod, I'm trying to help the community a little and, trying to get myself inspired again. Also, I'm trying to keep my skills up.

I've found it works better to do your scaling with blender, when you do it in nifscope it doesn't change the size of the collisions so sometimes they can act odd.

Edit: would you like a different color or number for black and white peaces? It could be cute to have a different texture for each side.

Take your time, and many many thanks for doing this :hugs: Ahh yes, the verts. I have spent time resizing them as well, not a fun task lol! Blender and I need to become friends one day, I keep telling myself that :)

Oh that would be neat! If you don't mind? But don't out do yourself either :D And which ever is easier, I don't mind if it is numbers, or just color, or nothing at all :P

Honestly it's no trouble, all I've ben doing lately is trolling the GECK section here and the Modification troubleshooting threads on the nexus, only piping in when I feel I can help. This resource came out of someone on the nexus asking how to make bobble heads Havok friendly.

I could do colors and numbers if you want, not a big deal. I use Photoshop every day, it's what I do for a living so, this is nothing. Let me know what you want and I'll fix it up. :P

Couldn't sleep last night so I stayed up till (6am, 7am your time.,) I've fixed up the textures for the chess peaces, still need a little work on the white ones.

I'm going to release them in standard blue plus the black and white you requested.

I've also decided I would release all the items I've converted from static to havok as a modders resource. Everything from typewriters, coffee makes, Nuka lamps, and TV's, including the bobbleheads and the chess peaces there will be around 140 havok friendly items to use.

You mentioned wood peaces to be used in fireplaces could you give the the name of the object in the GECK? I'm not sure which peace your thinking of.

Once I finish the chess peaces I'll start a new thread including all my assets.

Oh! I should have fun with those :D I already set up the table with the chess board and I used the toy chest as a little box to put the pieces into (sized down of course). I was wrong about the pieces of wood. I was thinking of the campfire04, but I saw that there is a woodplank02 that is already a movable static

I know I will be using the Tv and the typewriter for sure, and I am sure I will find about 20 other pieces that I want to use lol. It makes it so much easier for people to decorate, that is for sure! Do you have a Havok AnesthesiaMachine01 in that list?

Don't forget to get some sleep :D

good to hear, I'll do the Anesthesia Machine no problem, Hadn't ever thought about that one. If you think of others let me know and, I'll fix them up. Maybe the medical cart too?

The TV's come in 4 different sixes so do the tricycles and a few others.

I had the day off so I was able to sleep in, :snoring:

I tried the medical cart once, but I had an issue when I put the surgery tray on it, they both started having a havok dance party lol. It was amusing though :P Maybe I did it wrong though. Wow, you even gave us some sizes to choose from :D!! See, I love these type of resources, allows the players to customize the home if they don't like the way I did it. What do you think about the balloons? The only issue I see is that they won't float...so might need to take off the strings?

I just finished the blue chess peaces, there cute as He**! I made them half the size as the original bobbleheads, only issue is when you pick one up there collisions tend to knock the other over. (a domino affect.) I'm going upscale a chessboard by 25% to see if that spreads them out enough.

I just uploaded 3 screens of the WIP for them One from the GECK, one of the textures on the full size bobbleheads and one of the chess peaces all fallen over.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13095

Please let me know what you think.

after I finish the Anesthesia Machines (both clean and rusted,) I'll take a look at that table.

Omg those are too cute!! Those are totally perfect! I am not worried about them knocking each other over, it is expected anyways lol. That table top quote should be easy, it is the one 'dad' talks about when we are babies in the vault.

I am uploading pictures of the home I am just about done with and then will post them. You will get a chance to see where they will be placed. You will also have a better idea why I am so excited about more havok items to place in there :P

Glad to hear you think there too cute also! :celebration: I'm still going to upscale a chess board, ( like I said only by 25%, ) to see if it helps with the issue. (you wont have to use it if you don't want too.)

Trust me, I spent about six months asking, begging some kind meshers to come to my aid, (with, not much luck!), I know all about wanting more havok friendly objects. I was forced to learn how to do things for myself. :brokencomputer: It turned out to be a good thing in the end.

I'm preparing to wrap up my FO3 mod and, contemplating the direction I will go in "Fallout New Vagus", I'm not sure if you even use DCInteriors but, it's such a massive project I can't even contemplate continuing it If i'm going to start a similar one, in a new game. :banghead:

it's pushing 10pm hear in Chicago, I'll attach the Black and, white textures to the nif's after work tomorrow. I'll probably have a finish product by Thursday. :tops:

I hope I don't sound off or rude, I've had a couple two, three beers tonight and, it's probably best I tuck in for the night.

That is probably how most of us end up biting the bullet and take up modding lol I remember the good ol oblivion days. I was so worried about dirty mods and my items disappearing when I placed them into containers, that I learned how to make my own home mod.

I do use your DCInteriors mod, I never load a new game without it (ever since you switched to the .esm version), but I have yet to get into any of the buildings cause of the super mutants and me being a low level when I was testing a mod. One of these days, I swear, one of these days I will get down there

You didn't come off rude or anything with your post :P Just look at all those smile icons! Get some well deserved rest, and don't feel you have to stick to the Thursday date of release either :) Heck, we have a whole post of convo going here, and will be kinda sad to see it end lol!! I sure hope I am not scaring anyone off from posting as well :bolt:

I'm such a geek! I just finished attaching the textures to the chess peaces and, did the collisions for "FramedQuoteTableTop01". I'm so glad you pointed that one out to me, I was looking for something like that and, didn't know it existed.

If you haven't noticed, I like to go overboard when I do anything. :P

I did six retextures on four different variants of it. I used pin-up's because I didn't have any better ideas. If you have any pictures you would like to have framed let me know.

I'm uploading screens as I type this, the nexus is being buggy but, they should be up soon.

Edit, I forgot to mention I tested the chess peaces using a static chess board and they didn't tumble when touched. You may want to consider using one in your house mod.

I love that little picture frame and wished a few times that I could move it in the game lol!! Thanks to you, now I can :D Nice variety as well, that should be fun to work with. I have some images saved that I can put into them, other than that, I don't know what else could go :(

I will swap the one I made as a static for yours, easy enough :D I already had an idea that I didn't want the board moved around anyways :P

Awesome and amazing job as always!!! Thank you :hugs:

I just fixed up the "briefcasedetonator01" Briefcase, and both "ivstandr01" IV stands, I'm working on 3 different sizes of the "SuitCase01"suit case at the moment.

I'll try the balloons once I've finished what I'm playing with.

Yes I'm a Geek! But, I'm having fun, if you can think of anything else that would be cool as havok friendly let me know.

Edit: Oh, I did the "anesthesiamachine01" Anesthesia Machine also. :celebration:

ChemTubeRack01 <--- Why on earth weren't these movable lol
Gurney01
Gurney01Pad01
Vault87Signkeepout
Vault101Sign
Vault101Sign01
Vault101Sign02
Vault87Signkeepout
VacuumTubeLight
TenpennyVase01 <--- If you get creative, these really need a variety of styles, like Deco vases lol!!

(might be more added tomorrow, I have G.E.C.K. loaded up ;)
StairCase <---This looks like a step stool.

ChemTubeRack01 <--- Why on earth weren't these movable lol
Gurney01
Gurney01Pad01

Already have the "ChemTubRack01" done from DCInteriors.
Was looking at The Gurney, If I do them I'll combine them so they pad doesn't jump off when moved.

Vault87Signkeepout
Vault101Sign
Vault101Sign01
Vault101Sign02
Vault87Signkeepout

I'll check them out, as long as there textured on both sides then it will be no problem.

VacuumTubeLight
TenpennyVase01 <--- If you get creative, these really need a variety of styles, like Deco vases lol!!
StairCase <---This looks like a step stool.

I'll do the Vacume Tube light, The Tenpenny vase is alrady done, in two sizes. The idea of retextureing it with an art Deco feel is a good idea.
I know the Staircase your talking about. Consider it done.

Great idea about combining them both, I forgot about the havok dance it would cause lol  Oh! I will just grab the chem tube rack from DCInteriors if you don't mind? I will be sure to mention in the credits that it came from that mod (not the resource pack).

Those signs are like saw horse (hope I said that right) type of signs. I posted 1 of them 2 times, whoops lol.

The vase re-tex idea is only if you get bored, since you have done an excellent job with the Bobble Heads!! :woot: I may open up the texture in photoshop tonight or tomorrow night and play around with it lol.

Thank you for the stair case/step stool. I always use it as a step stool to get up onto the surgery table.

Speaking of surgery, remembered another for you!! HospitalScreen01 :bolt:

[edit to add] I see you typing, but I am sneaking in HulaGirl. Bet you already have that one done lol

Yep the Hula girl is done, Feel free to take any assets from DCInteriors and use them as you see fit. A lot of them will be released in my Havok pack, "Once I'm finished." Your also welcome to use any textures I've added. I'm gearing up for "New Vagus", Dupont Circle will most likely be the last update to DCInteriors. I Plan on starting a new Interiors Project for the new game, so I'm releasing all of my work as "public domain." Well as long as some sort of credit is givein. "Which should be a no brainer for most civilized modders."
