Hello, I recently had an Nvidia 7950, and that ran HDR fine. However, I kept on getting weird black screen bugs, so I eventually decided to switch to bloom.

Now I got a Nvidia 9800 GTX, and whenever i enable HDR, Oblivion crashes on startup.

Any help/tips would be appreciated.

Find your oblivion.ini in My games\Oblivion. Delete it. Start the game up, and let it redetect your video card. Set you preferences, and see how that works.

What driver version are you using?

It seems Oblivion couldn't recognize the video card (it just defaulted to medium, while it defaulted the 7950 to high).

7.15.11.7516 < this is my driver version

The date was sometime in 2008.

PS. is anyone else finding the forums to be extremely slow?

Might want to try updating your video drivers. The card is (i think) newer than the drivers...... Try the 186.18 first, and see if that helps.

Hey I stopped oblivion for a while but I got back to this thread.

I can now run HDR (thanks toyour advice) if i launch oblivion from the OblivionLauncher...but when i use obse...it crashes before the bethesda screen comes up.


Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah I tried that and that's what allowed me to launch from the oblivion launcher. Its just odd that obse would cause a crash.....confusing.
