HDR with anti-aliasing

Post » Fri Oct 16, 2009 5:07 am

Hi! I have an Ati radeon 4780 1Gb and I'm on vista, is there any way to get HDR working with anti-aliasing? Some mod or anything? This has really bothered me for awhile and I've found nothing on the internet... I'm sorry that this comes up again, I'm sure you've all heard it millions of times. But seriously, the search function here blows...

Kindest regards! :D

Open up Catalyst Control Center (or install it first from the disk that came with you're graphics card; alternatively, you can download it here: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html) and force AA at the level you want it to. Then just enable HDR in-game.

^Simple as that! However, I will suggest you enable your profiles in CCC and create one for Oblivion only with the AA and AF settings you like, and create another profile for your other games. The reason behind this is that it is a common practice to configure CCC AA and AF settings to: "application settings" meaning that you will define those settings per each game, in their own menus and CCC will adapt to it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!

I know of two ways:

1) Install ATI Tray Tools, set a profile for Oblivion, then set anti-aliasing for it. It messed up the graphics for me, so i don't recommend it.

2) Visit http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1076282 and download "Sharpening Shader" (i think it is that one). Recommended!

It works perfectly for me, so I recommend it ;)

Furthermore, I've set up this profile with the obse loader as the target and added a shortcut for it to the desktop, getting everything starting correctly from there. :)

I've found that just using the highest AF with HDR enabled is sufficient for a high quality Oblivion experience. No need forcing your card to do all that extra work for minimal imrpovement, imho. :liplick:
