Head/body color mismatch

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:15 am

I installed a couple mods that added in new NPCs to the game.
One adds more guards to caravans.
Another adds hunters, scavengers, and other people like that to the settlements in the game.
Here I will show you the horrible head/body color mismatch of all of the NPCs that were added in via mods, however no vanilla/default NPCs are affected in this way, only NPCs added in with these mods.

PLEASE HELP ME FIX IT! It is extremely annoying....... <_<

More info is needed. Exactly which mods are we talking about?

Hair will do this. If you have 'african american hair' on a 'caucasian', for example, you will get a white head on a black body.

The white-arms dark-face problem is a problem in the Fallout3.exe that can sort-of be worked around by using FO3MasterUpdate on your mod list.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637

You rename fo3edit.exe to FO3masterUpdate.exe and run it (but only when you know your load order is correct).

Then if you want to undo your changes or need to add new mods to your list, you make it be named FO3MasterRestore.exe, and run it again. It undoes the changes. Then you add your mods or whatever, adjust the load order in Fallout Mod Manager, and then make the .exe be named Fo3MasterUpdate.exe again and run it to re-set everything.

...you make it be named FO3MasterRestore.exe, and run it again.

Or simply make two shortcuts to FO3Edit.exe with -masterupdate and -masterrestore in the end of the "target" line. You can have all the functions with none of the renaming.

Resurrected my thread, sorry but I need assistance.

I tried using fallout 3 master update (renaming target line of FO3edit.exe) which to my knowledge converts all esps to esm files? Also I wasn't sure if this is necessarily a good thing to do to every single esp I have.

the application failed to complete the procedure, and I have no idea why after reviewing the log in fo3edit (master update rename).

Can you copy and paste what it said for the error? Sometimes it can make sense to someone else :)

I re-arranged your load order. Whether it helps in any way (with your errors), I don't know. But, I noticed some mods that weren't really in the right places. Mart's for one.

Not certain if it will help, but if you haven't already you could try adding bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 to your Fallout.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini files. Those files should be located in at: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3

Try slipping it in on the line after sLanguage= and see if it helps.

Not sure if there's a conflict with these but I'd suggest you only use one of them, either MaxLevelWorkaround or Max Level 99. Both do the same thing but in different ways, Max Level 99 simply edits the (iMaxCharacterLevel) value to 99, which, I believe, can cause problems if you have an evil karma character at lvl 21 (31 in Broken Steel), while MaxLevelWorkaround avoids any evil karma problems by using a script to, basically, reset your level to 30. If you use MaxLevelWorkaround then you wouldn't really need to use Max Level 99 anyway!
