I've had this game since 11/11/11, played Talos knows how many characters, and finally got around to buy wireless headphones for my TV and loaded Skyrim last night. The awesomeness, the sweetness, it was just overwhelming. Fell in love with the game all over again.

I play on console and live in an appartment so never cranked up the volume for fear the neighbours would call the cops whenever I did a deadric quest but boy was I missing great ambiance sounds, little noises, much better detailed music, the fire crackling, different sounds when walking on different surfaces, etc.

The fact that I'm playing a sneaky character must have helped also. Can't wait to do the Dawnguard questline for the creepyness factor!

I know it might seem obvious to some of you or PC players but just made this thread to share this to others like me who might never have experienced the full sounds of Skyrim. I really underestimated the whole thing. It was always good, but it's so much better now.

Hah welcome to the club. I've been playing on a laptop, so earphones were practical for me, and I often even play without any music at all. Now I bought a new big TV, so the next step is to move the game there, but now I don't have anything wireless. XD

Playing with headphones really enhances the whole experience, you can hear lots of little things that are easy to miss without them.

I literaly JUST tried this last night. Great if I actually had good headphones. The sounds are just crazy.

I play in a household with five other gamers. We have to use headphones. It's a necessity. I can't imagine the aural chaos that would result if we all played our games at once on speakers. *shudders*

I'm polar opposite, I'm afraid. I've tried numerous headphones and for me... they just cannot compare to a quality set of well placed speakers. My SW is located under the coffee table in the cntr of the room. When a Dragon lands the floor literally moves and the windows rattle.

You can actually feel the sound. That cannot be replicated through headphones.

As for the music, while very well done, I turned the music off on release and never turned it up again.

Maybe if you guys all play the civil war at once it may actually sound like a civil war.

Ha! That's a great idea. We all play Skyrim, so I might suggest that.

Agreed. I hardly ever turn the music on. Its a more immersive experience when you can hear the wind, birds and babbling brooks... Its great white noise if you cant sleep too!
