Can you use a mic during co-op/competitive play?

You need to be in a voice chat with the people you want to talk to (aka, your party). There's no in-game voice chat.

Few things with this:

You can't talk with random people at early levels, however I hear that you can when higher levels are achieved.

You are always allowed to talk with people you are grouped with and friends with.

ok sounds like they finally figured out that no one likes to hear the 12 year olds cussin' up a storm. As long as i can talk to my two brothers as we kick some serious butt online...I'm going to REALLY enjoy this game! I can't wait :D

I understood that the voice chat was turned off by default, and you could turn it on. I never heard anything about it being unlocked at a certain level.

Early on one of the devs had said Voice Chat was 100% locked until a certain level, so you couldn't talk to ANYONE.

They scrapped that and moved to the current "friends only by default" - you CAN turn it on so you hear everyone.

Considering this is a team/objective based shooter asking if its going to support headset/mic chat is kinda silly. Making a co-op/online competitive game without voice chat support would be just plain stupid

So I am a little confused here, is this going to be "team chat" only or will it be chat with everyone in the match? or is that the option that we are talking about being able to toggle on and off?

Well thats what I was thinking when I heard somewhere (on one of the videos) that the only way to communicate to others was via: selecting an objective from the wheel-toggle-selector-thingy and it would tell your teammates verbally (through character dialogue) to "cover you" while you were planting a bomb or whatever. It also seems lame that we can't truly work as a team, unless your friends with everyone on the team and can already talk to them...

So basically, hopefully.... we can chat online like usual online games....and a miracle of some sorts will bless the 9-12 year olds with the gift of silence. Amen

Stop spreading false information. Thanks.

Afaik voice-chat is disabled in the frist Rank by default but enabled for friends/fireteams.
On a later Rank, it will unlock for everyone, because people have learned the game and don't need to scream at each other like little boys because they can't figure out how to play.

Afaik Turtle Beaches are for the sound mainly, because the mic is if at all average quality.

seems dumb to me , so when you create a new charcter you have voice chat disabled even if you have a level 20 one , or is it just based on one charcter for all? , without voice chat you might aswell just play with AI , thell probably do better than the majority of people haha :P

Yeah i remember that video, what i got out of it was that they were trying to say for those players who dont have mics, communicating wont be a problem due to that in game chat system.

Damn I'd hate it if there was no in game chat :P
I know its rare, but I love it when you find a randomer thats just awesome to play with.

I'd always prefer the option to block the annoying ones than to have none at all.

I give PUGs a chance when it comes to communication. But with team based games, I actually try my best to avoid PUGs and play with my friends. CoD is an exception, due to the fact that the game can be won by just one person (which is me 80% of the time).

Which is why I pimped the heck out of this game to my friends who I know make excellent teammates from previous experiences of other FPS and RPG games. Got myself 5 friends plus myself to make a pretty nice 6 man/women team.

? PUG - 1. In RL, a pug is a small, wheezy dog that looks like it had its face smashed in by brick wall. 2. In online gaming, the acronym PUG stands for "Pick-Up Group," which is a group of players who've gotten together (or been thrown together) in order to accomplish a goal, a quest, or whatever. PUGs are oftentimes mix-and-match, hit-or-miss groups that are less than optimum for achieving a goal.

Which wouldn't be too bad of an idea... Its just how good are people at listening to in game dialogue and how many players actually know how to effectively complete objectives instead of thinking that killing hordes of people is the only objective. I would much rather prefer mics to communicate and still hear in game dialogue because not everymoment do i want to hear someone telling me through a headset to "cover them". haha i'm sure everyone will at some point be good enough to just naturally work as a team and as usual, talk about whatever they please on their mic.

This game really looks fun though either way
