Headshot!

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:17 am

It's not confirmed and this is just speculation from my end.

I was watching the invisible walls episode with skyrim as one of the topics, and one of the guys mentioned a showing that they managed to see of skyrim's gameplay. He stated that Todd shot a bandit in the head, and it resulted in a instant kill. Do you think that this could mean that head shots with a arrow takes more damage in skyrim(locational damage)? Or do you think that this just shows how strong they made the bow and arrow in skyrim?

Here is the link to the episode in case you haven't really seen it. It is a nice watch

Locational damage for arrows? Yes please! Also, being shot in the weapon arm should decrease combat effectiveness.

I didn't really think about what the guy was saying, but kind of sounded like locational damage to the head. I can't be sure though

Hopefully this is the case. A headshot should instantly kill someone. And a groin shot should also be a one-shot kill with a negative karma affect. :hubbahubba:

I am really hoping this is the case, but it can also mean that the bow and arrow is really strong.

You have to remember that's including more powerful bows and sneak attack. Although, I don't see why they wouldn't include locational damage and crippling - Fallout had it..

That'd be great to stealth shoot someone in the leg to make them much slower when running, or limping, towards you. Gives some time for an extra arrow or two.

Right. They could have seen either a sneak attack (bonus damage) or just an overpowered demo character, killing a weak mob in one hit, and made an assumption about locational damage. We'll see when we learn more / play the game.

It was said that Todd used a slow time perk for the bow and arrow to help shoot the running bandit in the head. It seem that Todd shot the head on purpose

Personally I hope bows are really really strong. I've heard, read this in the numerous preview coverages, and it just makes sense. One of the most feared weapons in history, but certainly has weaknesses, and it sounds like so far, they are exploiting those weaknesses appropriately.

Todd said that it will be harder to find arrows I believe

Headshot extra damage for bows seems like a minimum which there should be at least.
Combat multipliers for regular melee/spell I dont think really needs locational damage since you dont really aim with a sword unlike a bow.

Exactly, one way to limit their effectiveness. Not particularily realistic, but I don't mind.

I kind of thought so too, it would be awesome if you could chop their head, arm, and leg off. EPIC!

I wonder if this means harder to find in loot or if we can buy them too.

Fallout also had that, but it was kinda weird

Sometimes you would shoot a guy in the head with a sniper rifle, and their head would explode. Other times the bullet would somehow perfectly cut off the head at the neck
The same thing happened for blunt weapons (try cutting something with a lead pipe or baseball bat in real life) and grenades (slightly less odd, due to large chunks of shrapnel, thrown debris, etc)

It worked fine with swords and stuff, but with the engine switch, it might not be in at all for Skyrim :nope:

Yeah which is funny, because an actual sniper round would pretty much take the upper half of a person's body and turn it into pink mist.

I think arrows could decapitate someone, but they'd have to have the right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8CfLjl8fIQ

If they make it harder to hit the enemy, then I would think that it would work

yeah, todd already said they made the bow and arrow stronger, but will there be locational damage? If they have both, it would be awesome
