Healing gets you no XP, REALLY ZOS?

Post » Sat Mar 22, 2014 8:46 am

Wait- if you're healing other people, aren't you typically grouped up with them? Wouldn't you get XP for group kills, whether you do any damage, or not?

I know in Cyrodiil you get Alliance Points for healing, but I don't know about XP. Should be pretty easy for a healer to get a group, though.

Are you certain? I've played four different healer characters at this point, and when I'm in a group I focus on healing without worrying about doing damage. So far I haven't had any problems leveling too slowly.

Even if I just heal random players nearby as they are fighting enemies, when they kill the enemy, the loot also drops for me, and I would imagine I'm getting the XP as well.

It appears to be bugged. If you heal someone outside your group you get exp. If you heal some inside your group you get none. This was busted when zeni implemented PL safeguards. I /bugged it multiple times during beta.

These flame baits tend to get annoying as hell. Especially these forumaniacs declaring problems for all of us.

Stop assuming that your playstyles from previous games are valid in the next game. Keep an open mind, play the actual game before complaining and adapt. Quite simple.

i dont think people want to get xp for each heal cast

i could imagine they would like to get xp when the mob actually dies, even if they have only been trying to keep the group alive

OP why can't you just do ONE attack to damage an enemy? It's called multi-tasking my friend. =)

That is the thing isn't it. "now suppose to" never really works. People play the way they want to play.

You only get ex as a tank or dps for the kill so why would the healer get the ex for healing 4 different people at once for x amount of time? Doesn't make sense. The dps doesn't get xp per swing like on skyrim or any other ES. It's per kill for all players.

while true sometimes you may be pulling 5 mobs, so then you need to keep track of which mobs you already attacked, and make sure to hit all of them once before they start to die, there is such a thing as making it to complicated LOL

anyway if a healer does not get xp if he didnt do dmg to a specifiq mob, i could imagine that the same is true for a dps that doesnt do dmg to one of the mobs,

so in a group of 4 pulling 5 mobs, everybody has to make sure to hit all 5 mobs before they die if they want xp, again i must say it seems a bit to complicated to me

no people play the way zenimax wants us to play. You are a pawn in zenimax's chess game. But if it makes you feel better... sure you have control over the game.

i think you are still misunderstanding the issue

the issue is that the healer does not get xp for the kill!!

Whats so awfull a mmorpg changing the team battle formula in a way that makes eveyone more diverse. Making a full healer viable that does no dps wil have require a whole diffrent aproch to teamwork and wil not work with what they have planned. You should look further then you are doing now.

Just out of curiosity has the OP played a private group dungeon? I'd of thought that it was shared ex for them anyway? And just public once that you need to tag a critter

Say I heal my group and don't attack the target. Once my group gets the enemy down, they all get the xp for the kill, I don't even though I contributed to the fight.

They onl;y way to get the xp is to also add damage to the target, but sometimes thats hard when their are multiple mobs to keep track of. So my buddies will get more XP then I.

I don't see why anyone tagged, especially in a group, with being involved in a fight - be it healing, CC or headbutting - should be left without XP from the encounter.

If someone I'm not grouped with is fighting a mob, and I run by and toss a heal on them, I seem to remember getting loot from the mob he killed. I'm not sure if that means I got experience from the mob or not. I also may be remembering incorrectly.

Is there something official that states you get no experience for healing? Sorry if this has already been posted.

play the way you want to...except you HAVE to do damage, you HAVE to do quests, you HAVE to play the way you want to, just in a very limited way. Sounds fair, no? Also, I thought people had realized the GW2 style of everyman takes care of himself lends itself to boring gameplay.

This is the problem when a game has no ui. No one can tell if they are getting exp or not. I ran FTC and can tell you its bugged if you just heal people in your own group you get no exp. If random person runs by and you hit him with a heal and he kills a mob you get exp.

The thing is your op is a statement that doesn't seem grounded with actual gameplay experience? Have you played the game on a beta weekend? In public instances you have to tag the critter for the ex when it dies. That is common sense. It like my (sarcastic) first response says, people would abuse constant healing xp like the rat exploit in oblivion
