Health meter never goes up?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 10:24 pm

My health never increases. In my Pipboy I am at HP 72/127. I slept for 8 hours, ate food and used Stimpacks from the main screen and the Pipboy. And the HP meter on the HUD still shows red. Any ideas?

The red bar signifies radiation sickness - it decreases the maximum you can heal. Pop a Radaway and it should drop the red bar and allow you to heal more.

Yup. Took me a while to figure this out. But now that I know how it works I like what they've done with the radiation system here. Pretty neat way to handle vs the old method. Really makes radiation a bigger factor.

If your hurt by NPC's and not radiation and don't eat food or sleep does your health regenerate slowly, like in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Or even slower than in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or faster? Or does it not regenerate at all?

I really hope it doesn't regenerate at all until you eat food or sleep.

Agreed. Stat debuffs are an annoyance. Health getting halved is cause for concern.

Thanks nu-clear-day. I appreciate the help. It's weird that there isn't a pdf manual or anything.

Yeah... there is the Help section from the pause menu that gives you kind of a glossary of terms and concepts. Not the same, but I've found it helpful a couple of times.

your health doesnt regenerate at all (unless you have rank 3 of life giver perk which allows regeneration)

YES! Thank you. I'm beginning to wonder why Bethesda game Studios made your health regenerate in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim if you don't eat food, drink healing potions, sleep, rest or use healing spells.

Yeah, I'm happy about this as well. And the radiation throws a new twist at it. I like this particular change even though there are others I find questionable.

I really wish the red part of the health meter showed up in the pipboy though. It's annoying not knowing how much food to eat to heal yourself to your current maximum. Hopefully it's something they can patch soon.

I'm fairly sure that the meter in the Pip Boy accounts for the radiation. But I do think it should show it as to be more clear of what your status is

you know what i hate even more? that you cant see your radiation level or health at all if your in power armor.. you just have to guess... its incredibly annoying to just die randomly because you dont know you have low health while your in power armor.

its one of the reasons i hate using power armor.

Try looking at the lower left of your screen, where—when wearing power armor—you will see a gauge for HP and another gauge for RAD.

i dont have a rad bar or an hp bar when using power armor.. must be again a problem because of my monitor.. like how i also cant pick locks because the lock doesnt show up.. apparently its because of my monitor and theres no fix (unless i dont want to play on full screen)

I thought that too, but I tested it: my life was at full except for an irradiated section, and it still showed some missing in the pipboy. It would also show a glowing "healing" part when I scrolled over food items, implying I would heal when I wouldn't.
