You approach the beggar slowly, the man's sickly smile reminding you of the horrors of living on the street. "Spare a coin?" He asks. Reluctantly you toss him a gold piece and tell him to go get dinner. "Ah, what mercy," the man says. "You might be just the one I'm looking for?"

Thus begins "The Heart of the Dead", an 10+ hour quest adventure that will take you across the length of Cyrodiil in search of a rare Ayleid artifact. Visit old places with new twists, crawl along ancient dungeons and ruins, and follow the trail of clues as it leads you ever closer to the item known only as the Heart of the Dead.

The basic setup is this: The player is hired by a dying beggar to find an ancient Ayleid artifact called the Heart of the Dead. Armed only with a single clue, the player must head all over the continent, finding clues that lead him deeper into the mystery of what the Heart is, and what it's capable of. Along the way, he'll meet up with Kat, a freewheeling thief who holds a dark secret, Dublin, a dark elf mage who's looking to find his dead sister again, and Wintermoon, the Mystic Elf with a hidden connection to the Heart.

The quest will take the player to hidden places inside well known locations, as well as to all new lands and dreamscapes, as he tries to uncover the mystery of the Heart of the Dead...


Featuring:

- 15 Characters, all fully voiced and lip synced.

- 15+ hours of in-depth storytelling and dozens of new dungeons, along with many different puzzles and riddles, to create a grand adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones or National Treasure.

- Dozens of new NPCs with over a thousand lines of dialog in a character-based quest

- Three fully realized NPCs, with their own personalities, who might become your companions, depending on your actions and interactions with them. Share their joys and tears, and maybe even fall in love…

- New weapons and armor

- Dozens of unique artwork, used with permission by dozens of the best modders in the community. Some you’ll recognize, and some will surprise you…

- A new unique home, with plenty of storage and surprises.


BONUS: Also included is an extra music pack, for those who want to listen to pieces that are appropriate to this quest.

Requirements:
The Heart of the Dead requires that Shivering Isles must be installed

Also recommended is a character 15th level or higher. A character lower than 15 can still play, but the quest can get quite tough for beginning levels.

I'm interested in trying this mod since I've heard a lot of good things about it.

I have a question about the .exe installer. Are all resources added by this mod in BSA format (readme suggests there is a BSA file), or are there any loose files? In the latter case, are they stored in a unique path for the mod?

Typically I just use 7-zip to open executable archives and then install the files by some other means so I can identify conflicts during the installation process. That doesn't appear to work with this particular installer so I'd just like to be aware of any conflicts prior to actually running it.

There's a bsa, and esp, some music and a couple of video files. You can install the mod into a temp folder if you want (just choose a temp folder when running the installer) and then look through the files.

The only thing that gets overwritten is the beginning Bethesda movie, but the original movie is included in the installer as well if case you want it back again.

I installed the mod and I'm really impressed with just about everything I've seen so far. The voice acting is better than most of the stuff in the base game. :)

I was quite pleasantly surprised by the effect of a certain helmet. That's the kind of thing I've seen in pen & paper RPGs but I think it's the first time I've ever seen anything close implemented in a CRPG.

One bit of feedback: I did notice a bunch of floating rocks in cells (39,25), (40,25), and (37,24) as well as neighboring cells where the mod edits the landscape to make it steeper. All of the rocks I checked were from Oblivion.esm and I verified I don't have any conflicting mods editing the landscape in that area.

I have played this mod in the past but I'm having some trobule with getting the new version (6.5) to work. When I ever I load it my game freezes right after receiving the Partners ring.
I tried installing the normal CM_partners mod, but that just gave me a CTD.


Can you help me? I currently have no other mods installed except SI and KOTN.

I'm at the point in Heart of the Dead, right after the
Spoiler
intimate scene at the Two Sisters' Lodge
where you come in contact with Wintermoon. I went through everything she had to talk about, and Dublin has no topics when I wake him up. The guide says Wintermoon is supposed to give me the final statue, and meet me in the Chorrol Chapel, but neither of these things happened. I have tried talking to her several times, exiting and reentering the game, waiting and then talking to her, sleeping and then talking to her, but nothing works. Can anyone help me out? I really love this mod, and I don't have any desire to quit now.

I've not played this yet, downloading now. Saw the video though and the voices sound amazingly high quality!! Never heard such good voice acting in a mod before. Can't wait to play it.

Sorry for the double post, but I've run into a strange bug. In the the cave in the beginning, Yurn the Mads, all the cave textures are completely purple for some reason. Anyone got a fix for that?

I ran into a similar problem, but it went away as I walked forward. Methinks it has something to do with your render distance.

Hmm, it doesn't help to continue on, all the cave textures are completely purple. There are also some missing mesh files in the caves... :(

I tried the summon Dublin spell to no avail. It does nothing. Do I have to go find the redheaded girl and partner up with her or something?

I wasn't responding to you, sorry. I honestly have no idea, I haven't played this in a while. I was just asking in case I decide to reinstall.

Oh, I understand you. Well, you can have him or the other girl as your companion, but if you take him and your nice to him, you have to go at it. I think the closest you can get is having him as a companion and being a dike to him.

I have 40. 25 ESP/ESM's and 15 BSA's.

Don't know if there's a fix for this or not, but everytime I try to enter the Ancient Monastery's service area, I get a CTD. Any possible work around?

Have you tried going to the chapel in Chorral and equipping the helmet?
