Hey guys.

So basically, I haven't gotten the letter to start the quest.

I have the adoption quest note, so I have a horrible feeling I may have chucked the note or sold it or something equally as stupid.

Is there anyway I could fix this? If not I will have to start pretty much all over again (And I have my character almost exactly as I want her, now..)

If you mean the letter from the Jarl of Falkreath, you get that after level 9, so you may just not be ready for it. You don't actually need the letter to get started, however, as you can ask him for work before that. You may have to fetch some mead first, but once you've killed a bandit chief for him, it will progress.

You can also start work on the favour quests that get you made a thane, and add the housecarl. You need those and the land to become thane, but you can get them in any order.
