No heavies?

Let me put my view in perspective for you. You like so many other fear the MW2 crowd jumping on Brink and ruining it for everyone. Most of you take this to be all those stupid people who will play light in order to be commando knifers. Funny I never hear anyone complain about a heavy spamming noob tubes. Or mediums camping with shotguns or assault rifles.

Plenty of people won't play for their team and the team will suffer for. They will also suffer since this isn't how the game was intended to be played. Still the fact that most people seem to have perceptions of that light users have the belief at they are elite ninjas and will destroy anyone in their path.

I haven't heard this idea outside of jest on this forum. So please quit whining about something you don't know will happen and if it does you have no ability to stop it either.

It all depends on the player and what suits them best. While heavy will be more suited for run and gun (taking large amounts of damage), they will require players to play efficiently to best use a heavy, whether it be covering team mates, distracting, destroying things and sneaking in to cause mass damage to enemy teams. Then a light will have to be more cautious and need to sneak more and pick people off alternatively. Some ppl will svck at heavy, some will svck at light etc. But in the end it's who you prefer and play best with. None are better than the other.

Also due to set objectives, each type will be best suited for different tasks, so will be interesting to see how people go :D

This is very true.

I worry about Heavy Medic squads...

3-4 heavy medics reviving each other
:intergalactic:

someone will need to pack a lot of explosives LOL

how long? Cause I still bet a group of 3-4 medics will be 1 tough group to wipe.

Won't be as bad as BFBC2 though I'm sure... LMAO, me and the wife run 2x medic for lulz sometimes. Especially on Nelson Bay Conquest LOL

BC2 gameplay suffers a great deal from Zerg ressing, hopefully Brink doesn't have the same problems.

Only the devs know lol.
Still, a medic train is possibly a very effective strategy if executed properly. However, 4 medics will unbalance the team.

Light 31 40%
Medium 29 38%
Heavy 15 19%

Squads of medics are quite annoying in bc2, although it provides i nice challenge from time to time :P

that still leaves 4 slots... 1 assault, 1 engie, 1 commando, 1 floater...

Medics are the most important team member in firefights. Health to prevent death, and rez to reverse death.

you want a minimum of 2 medics IMO... 3 preferably, and 4 is probably rarely harmful.

If you want max team effectiveness at any rate...

I play for fun, so I'll likely be running around with a pistol for the hell of it :D

@DeadFishy: M2CG is wonderful for medics... kill a guy and wait for the medic to come running in for a rez... :D When I notice a lot of rezzing... I start waiting for medics after I get a kill.

You need atleast a soldier for ammo and shielding, an engineer (or 2) for buffs/turrets, 2 operatives to spot other ops, to interrogate and to hack turrets/Cp's.
Besides, if the objective is to hack something, 3 operatives + a mixed team are better than 4 medics + 1 operative + mixed team.
Anyways, that's how I see it. Maybe the game will prove me wrong ^^

Edit: In the game it will probably go completely different though. We'll see which crazy strategies and tactics will work :D

hopefully it changes mission to mission... that would be ideal.

I was talking on a pure firefight level... 1 engineer can buff everyone.... 1 assault can give ammo to everyone... 1 Op can trigger interogation (radar)

Medics on the other hand, more healing and reviving is almost always a good thing in a firefight.

When it comes down to getting a specific objective done however... it will likely have more to do with the actual objective on what is needed.

Brute force is not always the answer...

I was just expressing what I expect to be a major component to the brute force strategy.

Yes, if you have to fight trough a long open area with a minimum of flanking possibilities, heavy's + loads of medic support will probably be pretty efficient.

I think most people (especially on the consoles) will end up going Medium or Heavy, they just like the idea of being a ninja!

The build is not what makes you a ninja, the class, and most importantly, the player does. A light soldier running into the front lines doesn't sound like a ninja to me.

Weight significantly affects combat style.
Class primarily functions ROLE.

2 different things entirely.

Weight affects speed, mobility, health, and firepower. all direct combat modifiers.

Class affects abilities, objectives, team support options. While some abilities AUGMENT your combat style in 1 way or another, it more affects your particular role.

Lights move quickly, just about anywhere, but get lighter weapons.

Medium is a nice balance of everything... getting access to superior Assault Rifles and SHOTGUNS.

Heavy sacrifices a LOT of maneuverability SMART wise.... there is a substantial difference between 3 ft and 6 ft... more so then 6 ft and 15ft I'd say for the most part. but gains even more HP and access to the biggest baddest guns.... who needs speed when you're never running away?

These are PLAY STYLES.

It seems to me that SD has a damn good concept of balance, so I have faith they will be properly balanced.

Are you a flanking hit and runner? Are you the front line fighter?

I don't really see why anyone would think that 1 body type is best..... sure, 1 might be the most fun for you, suit your playstyle better... but I guarantee Lights will be merkin heavies, and heavies will be pummeling lights.... it's not like it's going to be dominated 1 way or another that I can see.

People will be torn between firepower and maneuverability... so I don't think any 1 type will be over represented.

I will have my lights sprinting around with SMG's and light rifles... my mids trying to get the drop on someone with a shotgun and using cover + an AR for mid range... and I'll have heavies who specialize in miniguns and making things explode....

Why would anyone just do 1?

If you can get away you win, due to the lack of sniping/ranged ohks being able to run away as a light will keep you alive, I know Brink is avoiding the whole k/d thing, i dislike k/d's personally, but dieing gets old even as a heavy.

Nice contradiction there.

EDIT: One of my guys is going to be a Heavy Operative with a heavy shotgun primary and a light rifle secondary. Light Ops beware. :chaos:
