Heavy Armored Mage

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 9:40 am

So, Im going to do a heavy armored mage. How does heavy armor look on females? I mostly play females, because Im female, and mostly do light armor. Do heavy armor look good on females?

What race would be better. Breton or Dunmer? Both are short and small, so I hae trouble seeing them in heavy armor. But, both get good boost and are my fav races to play.

What class of follower is good for a mage?

Any tips?

Firstly a heavy armoured mage is called a sorcerer, secondly, steel plate looks best

Without a doubt, Altmer is the best race for a mage. They start with a +50 magicka boost; that's an extra 5 levels worth of magicka that they have right off the bat. Plus their Highborn ability lets you regenerate magicka rapidly, essentially allowing unlimited use of your spells for 60 seconds.

Breton and Dark Elves are perfectly viable, but Altmer is the most efficient.

My female Nord uses Alteration and Restoration for her magic skills.

She looks good in Ebony Armor.

Isnt steel plate the one that forms around the boobs? I know on followers it looks like it bends and moves when they turn.

I can never be a high elf. Though I do see how they would be the best.

Any race is viable, in all honesty.

I agree, though there is a clipping issue where one of the shoulders go through the shoulderguard.

Daedric armor looks good for female mages in heavy armor, Orcish armor looks good on females aswell but it may be more of a fit for a warrior. If you have the DLC's, you might want to go for Nordic Carved armor or Falmer heavy armor.

For races, any race should do. But I personally prefer Dunmer over Bretons because of their aesthetics. But that is all to you.

Dunmer sorcerer in Daedric armor without the helmet, most bad-ass looking mage ever.

I agree with Cider!. If your character has an evil side, Daedric looks epic. Divayth Fyr will back us up.

I wouldn't call good ol' Fyr evil, he did try to cure a major disease and he isn't really anywhere near evil :P

True. But the armour we get in Skyrim is very dark. It's not something I could see a good guy wearing.
But then, the Telvanni dont really have a sense of right or wrong. Only "what will I get out of this?" so maybe it would work.
How many of the Corprus monsters were thieves trying to find all of Fyr's chests, I wonder...

The Telvanni are the true grays of Tamriel, no matter what they are usually always between good and evil.

Ebony Armor, for that slightly evil feel.

Steel PLate though, I think looks awesome on a female. No helmet.

I'm wearing nordic carved armor for now. I'm a breton, so felt kind of odd rocking nordic. But, oh well, better than chitin heavy?

Now Im deciding between helmets or hoods.

Like the battlemages in the oblivion guild wore hoods.

Hoods sounds fair enough. That is asuming you don't care about matching armor rating bonus from Heavy armor perk tree.

Yea, that's what I'm deciding. Hoods kind of look more mage like. Then there's the dragon mask idea. But that may be too outlandish.

Armour of all kinds generally look better on female characters.

Any race will work, of course, this is Skyrim after all. I suppose Dunmer being the most adept at Destruction magic would make sense if you want more of a Battlemage (re: Adept level destruction spells), Breton if you're more of a Sorcerer (ie. Conjuration) but these are just early advantages. Really, in Skyrim, race selection is just aesthetic. It's a fallacy to pick a race based on class archetypes; makes a difference for about a couple of hours gameplay.

Nordic Carved armor is fine, I am going to use it for my good moraled Necrowarrior (Pretty much a warrior/necromancer hybrid including frost destruction.) Nordic carved armor is bulky yet pretty elegant because of the fur, a good armor for a good moraled battlemage.

Then again, she's a Nord, so it fits her in the first place.

Hoods should do. I haven't checked it out yet, but perhaps the Alik'r hood? If it won't clip, atleast.

if you are planning on not using a helmet, only the heavy armors work well with a hood, otherwise the hood clips through all the armor, and the normal steel armor and plate armor clip really hard too.

I'd go with a destruction based Dunmer.

For the armor I'd choose Falmer as it is the sixiest (most revealing) elven armor. It like the elven equiverlant to the human ancient Nord or Forsworn.
Otherwise Dunmer also have heavy chitin & Bonemold if you wanted to stay racial. there is also the armor of their Orcish cousins. Morrowind also has it's own native Orcs and the Orc strongholds of Morrowind I think are some of the oldest remaining.
