Heavy-handed moderators killing the community mood?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:44 am

I mean seriously, you lock the “arrow in the knee” thread?

Something from the game, a meme that everyone can recognize and get a chuckle out of participating, in the midst of such a mood crushing avalanche of whining anti-threads, and some “official” representative of Bethesda (named “BootySweat” no less, which is just tactless in itself) comes along and locks it down? Bad show Bethesda.

-10 community building interweb points.

Why don’t you go kick a kitten while you’re at it, then wonder why the mood around here svcks.

I don't think you're allowed to call out specific members...

Likely post limit... they manually lock anything over 200 posts... which is simply [censored] in it's own right.

Close, but it was locked with the statement "we do not allow games on our forums."

Maybe that was just a tongue-in-cheek way of saying "post limit," in which case sorry for over reacting.

But you should maybe clarify that's what you mean, if it was.

Yeah this attempt to crush disidence is getting pathetic. Yeah they are just doing their job but frankly it doesn't matter. Wrong will forever be wrong.

I agree with this 100%

Pretty much every representative of bethesda (and beth themselves) have been doing a really terrible job with their fan base lately. Might as well merge with EA with the PR beths been pulling on people.

Oh ok, they should just let 1 or 2 go on as long as the forum isn't full of them like the blizz forums.

It's especially odd given the contrast of positive threads to negative threads.

There are so many negative threads that seem like they should be closed, especially with how they basically are bait for flaming, yet many remain open.

A fun little thread here and there can't possibly be so bad a thing compared to that, can it?

No, forum games get locked. Something about not allowing spammy threads.

I found that strange myself, maybe it was for humor? Who knows, it happens a lot. Not that I have a problem with the mods, their are a lot of them who are great people, and then the few that are... strange.

I know some of the older mods let forum games slide sometimes, maybe it is because booty is newer?

200 is the post limit. I've also seen forum games get locked before and they were well under the 200 posts.

I know the post limit, thanks. It could just as easily have been the post limit as well as the "no games" rule; that's what I meant.

b4lock: most mods on beth forums are bad and always were. kinda kindergarden athmosphere. i was pretty active in the old elderscrolls.com forums but left for that reason. i came back for skyrim but im not going back into community discussion or stuff anymore.

It's kind of lame how they just assume the thread isn't worth keeping open after it reaches 200 replies. All that results in is hundreds of different threads on the same subject, making it impossible to find any previous information that may have been posted. I'd much rather go through 500 posts than 500 topics with 200 posts each.
