Heightmap Editor Settings

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:15 am

Where are the settings in the Heightmap Editor for displaying which quads I'm looking at? I'm having problems generating the LOD meshes, as it only generates the quads centered around 0,0 in the Heightmap editor (the ones that are visible), however the Heightmap for my mod extends further than this, so how am I to get LOD landscape meshes for the quads outside of the visible area? Are there settings for this somewhere in the CS? :)

Help asap would be appreciated (hope to get this Height Map up on TESNexus for playtesting within the next few hours).

Cheers,

There should be a small overview window in the upper right corner when you start the heightmap editor. If it is not there open the 'view' tab and check 'overview'. Eventually you need to 'regenerate overview' as well. In that small window you can click on the part of the heightmap you want to look at. It will always show four quads only (and thus generate the four LOD meshes that are currently visible in the main window only).

since this is a related question, i figure i might as well post it here:
why are half of some of my quads coming up pure black in the final LOD texture? the partials are there and the CS gives me no errors. Im pretty sure that this error was also causing these quads to come up entirely magenta in game.

With my old Nvidia card I had this problem as well, but with my new ATI card it works fine. If you want to avoid the workaround find someone with an ATI card to generate the textures for you.
