Heli sniping??

Post » Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:29 pm

Hey, are you able to kill the pilots of a helicopter when theyre in the cockpits so you can fly it? Because you can in cars and stuff but whenever i try to against a heli it dose nothing, even when they are letting the other people jump out and the cockpit doors open i still cant snipe them. So is it impossible or just takes extreme skill? But if it is impossible, i bet it is because otherwise you can just skip the story and just fly away :)

Maybe the cockpit glass is unbreakable.

I think the idea is to keep you grounded, even in the vtol battle you are placed in the seat by the game allready in flight, and taken out of the cockpit by the game also. i would suggest that this control is to stop you taking them across levels. but i do believe these vehicles are available in some multiplay, and throw the topic open ??

somehow I dont think we will get to fly any heli's around because the area required would be too massive. still would love to test my skill on stupid copters

I asked this on Wars and they said you have to use high powered weapons, like mounted guns and the gauss. They said even the sniper isn't enough, though I haven't tried this out yet.

In Crysis Wars you can snipe the pilot with the Gauss Rifle. I would assume the cockpit is made with bulletproof glass so that it would take a highpowered rifle like the Gauss to get through the armor, whereas the Precision Rifle round will glance off.

I play the BlackShark sim from DCS which is a very realistic sim of the Russian Ka-50 Attack Helicopter. They say in the manual the copter can take up to 23mm shot and shells, but its obviously wrong, as I've been shot down by a few .50 bullets. :p However, I have noticed that when I'm taking on infantry with just AKMs, I don't seem to take any real damage. So, I'm pretty sure the armored plexiglass can take on at least assault rifle rounds.

that game's physics and crysis physics are different :P. in multiplayer, as someone said before, you need high powered weapons (i took out a person from their cockpit with a gauss vtol before), but in warhead, its impossible, i tried believe me, but u cant because they dont want you to have air vehicles cause the map too small.

I was taking out turrets on Mesa with my heli, and I got sniped right out of it with a DSG1. I've also been sniped out of it with a Gauss and other heli/VTOL guns.

Me and a friend tested whether you could snipe someone out of a VTOL. It's impossible. I let him sit there and the Gauss rifle and DSG1 bounced off (heavy caliber weapons can still kill you though)

There was one time when I bought a heli, as soon as I got in and flew up about 50 feet, there was a VTOL shooting everything it had at me, my first shot was lucky enough to go right through the glass of the VTOL and HEADSHOT the pilot. Oh man that was awesome :D

I know you're talking about the campaign. I don't think I've tried sniping them out. But I've seen the flowgraphs used to control the AI, and if you did snipe them, there is nothing written in telling a backup pilot to take control. It would work, but you'd have to be accurate and fast :D

I am sure that the reason they will not allow you to kill the pilot because they don't want you to mess around by taking it across levels or just breaking the A.I. but I'm sure that in Crysis 2 you will have that ability because the game engine is designed with so much more power

In the Screenshot, A tank under heavy fire. Is the Scar rifle from Crysis 1 being returned as a common weapon?

During the E3 Demo, the SCARAB was used the most. I'm not sure if this is the new SCAR2 or if both versions will be in the game.
