Errr Im no good at this introduction stuff but my names Timothy ('98) and i was wonderring if Skyrim is the game for me. my favorite games are killzone 2, modern warfare 2 (black ops of c.) and dragon age 2. I was recommended 2 check this game out cuz its an RPG just like Dragon Age 2 XD

anyways i like the kind of RPGs where you walk aroun d and fight stuff almost like its modern warfare 2, but only with bows and magic instead of guns. so with that said do you guys think thiss is the perfect game for me or what?! :intergalactic: :hubbahubba: :celebration:

personally i think its going 2 be great just from watching the trailer. shooting wolves with bows and arrows looks AWESOME and totally intense like i was playing Transformer 3: Dark of the Moon in video game form LOL one thing that makes me hesitant is that it might be similar to fallout new vegas and i really did not like that game (i thought the story wasnt as cool as fallout 3's) :cryvaultboy:

anyways thank you all for the replies I am sure i will get! much love to you all!!!!!!! :intergalactic:

Well, of all the games mentioned, Skyrim will be the only one suitable for your age, so... I'd say give it a try, yes!

if you liked fallout 3, you will most likely like this game. It may not be perfectly suited to your tastes, and for the most part most of the forumers here have VERY different tastes from yours. But I think you'll like the game.

(by the way, the people developing skyrim developed fallout 3, but not new vegas....soo if you liked 3 more, thats a positive towards you liking skyrim)

It seems like you favor FPSs over RPGs. Also, if you're buying it under the pretenses that it's an "RPG just like Dragon Age 2", you may be disappointed. DA2 is a different kind of RPG than Skyrim. As someone said, Fallout 3/New Vegas may be a better choice for you.

It sounds to me like you should start with Fallout 3, and if you like that graduate to Elder Scrolls :)

Geeze, don't be so harsh to the kid. I wasn't much older than him when I first got Morrowind and I loved that. :P

You like RPGs like COD but with arrows and magic? Im sorry, but they dont exist.

You mean first person RPGs? Yeah, TES is the only one, and you imply you have never played any TES...so..... There were more before, but I highly doubt you ever played Wizardry or Might and Magic.

So, care to explain what it is exactly what you like?

When it comes to walking around and fighting stuff with bows and magic, Skyrim is the game.
It features a totally open world, like Fallout, you arent guided in between invisible walls in a narrow path like Dragon Age.
There are a lot of choices as to how you want your character to develop, and you choose these throughout the game, not at the beginning. So you can decide to use your magic skills more and you will become a better mage, or stealth skills for rogue and weapon and armour skills for fighter.

Skyrim is sure to be one of the best reviewed and sold games of 2012 and I think you might enjoy it a lot :)

Heh, people and their elitism these days. He's basically saying "this game is awesome, should I buy it" and you say he shouldn't because he likes Transformers?
And really, if he's born 98 then he's 13 and you really shouldn't suggest games like Fallout 3 to him, for crying out loud. <_<

Skyrim most likely WILL be awesome for people who enjoyed Dragon Age 2 and aren't expecting too much from the game.

I wouldn't call Dragon Age 2 an RPG.

I think you will not like Skyrim.

Stick to Fallout, I don't think you could handle TES.

Agreed.

As a more free-roam game you may have to go looking for fights a little more in Skyrim than a more linear game, which will usher you from fight to fight. I expect there will be plenty of opportunity to 'walk around and fight stuff'.

The first game I played was GTA2 when I was 5. It was sweet. I'm sure a thirteen year old can handle Fallout. My little cousin who just turned six can watch me play Red Dead redemption without flinching. She's really learning from me

OT: It all depends. If you don't like medieval style RPG's then I wouldn't recommend it. That being said you could always give it a shot. Rent it before buying it so you don't waste your money (or more realistically your parents' money) if you like it buy it. I will always say give The Elder Scroll series a try since they are very good games with an entire world to explore and no way of being forced in any direction.

You guys are being mean. I started playing Oblivion when I was 9 (got it on release day). I currently own Call of Duty 4, World at War, MW2 and Black ops. While the games are fun, I have no respect for them. Skyrim will be awesome,

Kid, get Skyrim. There are two types of games that make you a better person: strategy games and RPGs. It sounds like strategy isnt for you so I would play RPGs. The elder scrolls is probably the best RPG series for learning real life lessons anyways.

Did I just take the fun out of this? Woops.

You should definitely give it a try when it comes out. Skyrim will be huge, with tons of places to explore , tons of beasties to kill, and tons of loot.

That said, he could probably try Fallout first. And even if he then finds out he doesn't enjoy the roleplay part he can get his moneys worth in the FPS aspect of the game.

And if he does enjoy the RP he can 'graduate' to TES

You will in fact get a lot of that in Skyrim. But a word of warning: the series has never been known to emphasize the combat as much as it emphasizes the story and ability to explore an awesome open world. Though if you did like DA, I assume you do enjoy those elements.
So, yeah, play it. And make sure you clean the floor at the table where you'll play. Cause you'll be looking for your jaw down there

I started playing oblivion in the summer of 2006, I was about 11 at that time. Back then I thought it was really fun to just roam around and just do what you want, just as I do now. I'd say go for it ! !
