Hi Mentalelf. I probably joined here after you left, but I played your HorrorMod (I know you are only partly created it), and I loved it. Maybe the most impressive questmod I have ever played. Some enemies were perhaps a litle too tough, and the deadend on the waterstation was a little confusing. But in terms of atmosphere, creativity, size it's the best I ever played.. and I jumped, when I faced the shark in the haunted house.. best morrowind jumpscare ever. So thanks for that mod :trophy:
The work I did on Horror Mod really opened my eyes to the freedom that modding gives us. Frankly my personal tastes
are as opposed to doing Horror in a mod as cats are opposed to getting in water. But LightingFlik's vision was perfection in
that the immersion of Horror Mod was such that it's one of maybe only two games where I will never forget the feelings
I had while playing it. However LightningFlik was working solo, and there was just too much stuff to get it all sorted out.
I fixed and improved most areas, and the unfinished bits I tried to salvage as best I could. The underwater complex was
really empty as I found it, I carved up a crude solution and slammed it in (adding the "Holy Relic" there). Some areas
of LightningFlik's got removed altogether as in a scene where a lover's quarrel is re-enacted in front of the player by
ghosts. I felt in this case I would have spent so much time fixing the scripting and stuff it would have been too time
consuming, and not worth it. It was easier to actually add new stuff than to weed through LF's work and sort it out in some
places, as was the case with the Zombie shop keeper "Voodoo Lou" and his house plant (you can eat the leaves, one type
of leaf on the house plant will send you into a short "acid trip" which includes visual effects). In all it's been a totally
awesome experience being part of HorrorMod, and I have to thank LightningFlik for the original once again.
By the way LightningFlik's involvement in the rebuild of Horror Mod was pretty heavy, I had originally contacted him
by email about problems I found, and he agreed that I should improve things and re-release it. We were in frequent
contact by email during the rebuild.
