Hi, the answer I can give is maybe.
You've put thought into it already, what are your views?, are there any other games or stuff in general that you may like more about to come out.
Have you read anything about the game or looked at what its like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page if so this may help.
Its a good game I enjoy it, you're a rpg fan so you may too.

If you're an RPG fan, hell yes you should get it. I can't see any reason why you'd not like it. Be prepared, though, because it's not a very structured game. It's very open-ended. I don't wanna say anything more than this, it would just spoil some of the surprise.

Suffice it to say, how you play the game is entirely up to you. It's not like so many other "RPGs" that have you follow a linear plot with hardly any deviations...

Oh and have a fishy stick. That's what all new forum members get.

If you liked Fallout 3's wide-open explorable world and if you like medieval-themed fantasy worlds and if you like skill-based character leveling systems then I'd say Oblivion is a perfect fit for you.

Buy it. I got the game last year around June and have put 400+ hours into it and will put more in. If you like Fallout 3 then you'll love Oblivion.

Oh and a Fishy Stick can be explained right here:

The fishy stick phenomenon began when Captain Eldrad joined the Official Forums on January 18, 2001. The graphic used is from an advertisment for Captain Morgan's rum, with a fish stick in place of the bottle of rum. In the beginning, fishy sticks were only given to those who truly deserved the honor, by Captain Eldrad himself. Later, his friend Soursha gave them away to new members. Eventually, it became customary to give fishy sticks to the newcomers of the forum. (Taken From the UESPWiki)

Here's the review that i first learned of Oblivion. It does a pretty good job at describing it without giving too much away.

Right on, Yea we think you'll like it. The fishy stick thing began long ago right here in one of these forums. The guys that started it hardly ever post here anymore. You can read about it 3 or 4 posts above this one.

You should all be ashamed. :nono: You have to actually give the poor guy his fishy stick. http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.imperial-library.info/dogate/til_fishystick.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.imperial-library.info/dogate/mw_easter_eggs.shtml&usg=__Rg_7_XHmdIaV_H_LE-zNJJlChIg=&h=230&w=140&sz=17&hl=en&start=0&sig2=GzjQ1AQIUcnF64SBJA7osw&zoom=1&tbnid=O2V9necuMTWR4M:&tbnh=141&tbnw=102&ei=7oWuTIfTPIu6sAPnz_H-Cw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfishy%2Bstick%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DE2i%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D858%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=335&vpy=95&dur=779&hovh=184&hovw=112&tx=94&ty=104&oei=7oWuTIfTPIu6sAPnz_H-Cw&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=36&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0 You can't get his hopes up and not give him one.

@OP: I agree with everyone above me. If you like Fallout 3, you'll most likely enjoy this. It's a bit less polished in some areas and the quests are lot more linear, but at the same time there are more options build and exploration wise. Dungeons are a bit more linear, but are very plentiful. I suggest buying the game on PC if possible, however, because of mods, and there will most likely be a few things you'll want to change at some point.

But personally, I prefer this over Fallout 3.

EDIT: Didn't read your last post. Not sure if you got it off Steam or the Xbox Marketplace, but either way you'll be satisfied.

For the love of God man..... This game is the best RPG out PERIOD and will continue to be until TES: V comes out if you are gonna spend money on an RPG do it on this one buy the game of the year edition while you're at it. The game is so open world when you see the world and enviroment for the first time you will be in awe of the expansiveness and the work and detail put into this game that you will not find in ANY other game.
