[WIPz] Helmet POV

Wow. Just... wow. I would have been delighted just to have the overlay effect alone. You've really gone above and beyond with this mod, Schlangster. :o

I got a bit distracted gaming-wise during the last weeks (SC 2 beta, AC 2), so i wasn't that motivated. Im still working on this mod though from time to time.

Here's a screenshot of the radar: http://img708.imageshack.us/i/screenshot39.jpg/

What do you thinkg of it? (size, position, general look). Should it work for all actors or only for moving ones?
I started with showing only moving actors, with an update every 3 seconds, but it was barely useful like this, so not really worth the space it takes up in the HUD.

I would think all actors.

I have to say this mod is truly superb. I just got it a few days ago and have been loving it. Afew more overlay options would be cool though. And that radar looks awsome I cant wait for it, as for what it does just moving actors or all actors but only updates every 2 or so seconds is what I think would work. Anyhoo again its a great mod and I cant wait to see the radar.

I will be using this in my playthrough, and you'll get full credit.

I love this mod! It actually makes me feel like a tank when wearing a suit of PA :flamethrower:

I also reworked the overlay images. Generally i just tried to get the shape right and a little bevel effect on the edges.
Some screenshots:

Regarding the presets for helmet features to PA sets, it thought the following would make sense:

T45d: Night vision
T51b: Night vision, Radar

Enclave: Night vision, Heat vision
Tesla: Night vision, Heat vision, EM vision
Hellfire: Night vision, Heat vision, EM vision, Radar

This would make the Hellfire armor even more OP though. Then there is no reason at all to wear the T51b.

Maybe you could make it like WMK, where most helmets are found with no features at all, but you can still find some with features in them. Then you can add features to the helmets by finding upgrade packages.

Just an idea

That's true... then the radar should be exclusive to the T51b.

I also thought about that, but it would require some more features to make it worth it.

I would like that. Gives me a reason to take it out of my trunk :)

And just so you know, the radar looks awesome!

Stupid question, I know, but this would work with T51-b Winterized version, right? I love the white tint over the dull green.

Encountered a strange issue, schlangster.
Was wearing enclave armor for a while with Overlay 1 and all POV features enabled.
Changed to combat armor and the Oasis hood for a more stealthy mission.

All was cool until I put on some tortoiseshell glasses, and noticed that I had the PA overlay and Darth vader breathing!
How can I disable your POV effects when wearing glasses instead of the helmet?

Did you try changing it to the right overlay effect with the < POV Config > tool?

Whenever you equip any headwear, the script will look if there are currently any effects configured for this item and apply them. As kai said, you can also always reconfigure them.

So maybe you enabled some features for the glasses earlier (for testing) and forgot about it? If you didn't then it's simply a bug and I'll have to see if I can reproduce and fix it.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, its not a major issue to reconfigure, but I'm quite sure I never had any configuration for those glasses. In fact I only found them shortly before I noticed the issue.
After I reconfigured the changes took hold, and I haven't been able to reproduce the issue since then.
So I guess if nobody else has reported this problem, then it must have been just a weird random anomoly.

Awesome work. I love the radar addition. Kudos.

One question however, I assume the overlay only works with the vanilla helmets? I'm using a mod that adds some power armour to the game and I'm not getting any relevant overlay choices.

Um...I can't get any overlay effects when I wear a helmet. I can get things like night-vision, but I can't get overlays.

Did you read the README file about installing? You have to edit a text file in the data folder.

This mod looks so excellent that, even though my computer crashed a couple months ago and I'm still in limbo waiting for the cash to build a new one, even though I can't technically play Fallout 3 right now, I look at these screenshots and it feels almost like I'll be going back to a brand new game.

Immersion? Jeeze louise. Really awesome work, schlangster. Game changing, can't wait to try it.

I've added that line into the .xml, but I still have nothing. Btw, I'm using the Army Power Armor, which is technically vanilla.

Hey Schlangster -- just wondering if you're still working on this mod at all? Looks like you haven't been around quite as often, but as I love this mod so much, just wondering if there was more in the works yet to come, or if it is pretty much final as-is?
