Help about something in G.E.C.K.

Post » Tue Jul 20, 2010 2:44 am

So I wanted to make big "crack" in earth , where i could make my town/village with RTS (real time settler) mod. I know how to do some landscape editing, so I made a huge hole in ground, with some water on bottom. I also added map marker. When I go there in game, on top of the hole, there is some tan/brown ...thing...all over the hole, you can pass thourgh and all, but it just stands there. Dont know how to solve it, I will put some pictures if needed.

What you are seeing is most likely LOD (level of detail) objects which are the games way of displaying certain objects at a distance without using up too much resources. There is no way to get rid of it short of regenerating LOD for the wasteland which is an extreamly intensive thing to do. Most people just avoid building around LOD objects.

Is there ANY way to avoid this? What if i build on other place in Wasteland? Near which certain objects i should not build?

Perhaps you should post a pic, because most LOD objects are things like trees & buldings and such, and not "tan/brown things".

That is probably the LOD of the ground.

Your best bet is to make your own worldspace instead of using the wasteland one.

Otherwise, you will need to regenerate the LOD for those cells.
