Help me ace Arena and Daggerfall

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 9:14 pm

I've been playing TES for a very long time now, and I've completed the latest 3. I've also dabbled in Arena and Daggerfall, but with both games I've either been slaughtered by enemies 5 times stronger than me or hit with game-breaking bugs when I proceed to a certain point.

So I'm asking for your help. I've already gotten a feel for both games - I did play a LOT of Daggerfall before it corrupted on me - but I really want to finish them. Bear in mind that I don't want to become overpowered (so no Passwall or anything), and I prefer Fighter builds (though if this really isn't an 'easy' option, recommend me something else). I just want to find a relatively simple way to go through the main quests.

So can you give me pointers on how to start up both games? Thanks in advance ^_^

Fighter pretty much is the easy mode for Daggerfall, at least, although adding in some magic skills can help. But... well, with that game you're either overpowered or you're going to die a lot, it's just that kind of game. For that matter, you can be overpowered and still die a lot, especially at early levels.

Straight Heavy armor Melee tank seemed to be the 'easy' route for Arena, as well. I always preferred a Magic Stealth Spellsword types in those two games b.c I am a glutton for punishment, however I watched a friend bludgeon his way through several Arena dungeons with relative ease with his stupid Redguard tank mostly using a dwarven/ebony hammer or something along those lines and wearing plate armor. I was not impressed, but it apparently makes the game easier with that type of character. Redguards already get a high damage bonus that can really be scammed on by using a high damage weapon like a Hammer/Axe.

If I just wanna go in and get going real easy when I start a new character on Daggerfall, the first steps always involve hitting up the mage's guild and doing some guard duty jobs. They always result in an enchanted trinket of some kind, including really important stuff like levitation that's practically required for many dungeons. With a little luck you could even get some stuff that fortify attributes. With that extra "oomph" behind you, you should be feeling signifcantly more confident to stroll out into the world and take on the main quest. Just make sure your starting stats are high enough to join.
