Help! Battlespire crashes

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:38 am

I've installed Battlespire using the guide provided in the sticky and I'm using the latest official build of DOSBOX 0.72.

As soon as I approach those first scamps my game crashes with the following message:

Code 0: not found in C:/BATSPIRE.

I also notice there is no music playing (sound works fine).

- Ah, nevermind. My problem was that the Battlespire.cue file was in my DOSBOX directory in the "Battlespire" folder and by simply copying and pasting the autoexec from the sticky guide it did not take that into account.

Yep, patch to 1.5 and mount the disc with it, all issues are gone! :) Fun awaits you!

I have this problem and this:

"- Ah, nevermind. My problem was that the Battlespire.cue file was in my DOSBOX directory in the "Battlespire" folder and by simply copying and pasting the autoexec from the sticky guide it did not take that into account."

made no sense to me!

I had this problem and solved by putting the waves file and the movies folder from the CD to the C:\BATSPIRE folder, then edited the SPIRE.CFG to show the cdpath as C:\BATSPIRE hope this helps.

Do you play without the music then, or does the music work as it should?

I get no music whatever I do. ISO, copying the files as I said in my last post. Nothing works except if I use my original CD, and thats too precious to use, so I go without the music, but better that than game crashing when you talk to NPC's!

Tried making another bin/cue with PowerISO and put them both in my Batspire folder, added cue in D-Fend Reloaded as drive D:, changed Spire.cfg and voila, this time I got music!

Only problem now is no way to control the music volume. Lower it in game options and it doesn't change, ALT-TAB out of the game, go to volume controls and lower the wave volume and that works. Shame you have to do that!
