Help a beginner out :)

Hi :) (sorry in advance if there already is a topic on this, im to lazy to search:) Ok so its my first time playing Morrowind, i figured i should play it since i really enjoyed Oblivion and i am really looking forward to Skyrim, but i have a few problems :P any help would be much appreciated.

Ok so lets start with the first problem ( the problem that made me decide to start this topic)

1. Ok so i pressed TAB in game to show the menu/character screen thingy . . . so i double clicked the window with the picture and stats of my character and it kinda disappeared and for some reason i clicked the rest of the info windows in the menu . . . ( [censored] i know, but i could not resist the urge) sooooo . . anyone kow how to get them back :D ?

2. finding my way in Morrowind is meeh, its ok when you are going to a city, because then you have waysigns, but when you are told to go to a specific location the npc's just say stuff like go east and then west and then down that bumpy road with lots of monsters then head north until you see a cave and thats ok if this was in the real world, but in the game its kinda hard to figure out ( so far i have kinda just picked a random direction and went for it :) doesnt work btw) SO question beeing, is the some sort of compass or waypointer you can turn on ? or is there a a compass mod out there ??

1. click on the status icons at the bottom of the screen and that should bring them back.
2. Not that I know of, it's just part of the game to be lost sometimes. :) You could check out the map on UESP if you get totally lost, that's what I used to do.

1. Click on the Icons on the screen and the associated menu will appear again. (click your weapon icon, and the your inventory pops back, etc)

2. There is no compass. Follow the directions that they give you. Check your journal too, the directions are usually in there so you don't have to rely on just your memory.
"Picking a random direction" doesn't even make sense.... of course you got lost.

North is "up."
Open the map to see which direction you are facing.
You can switch between the Local and World maps to better get your bearings in different situations.
