Help can't talk to Corporal Sterling or Corporal Betsy

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 6:38 am

I cannot talk to Corporal Sterling or Betsy which stops me from doing Raul's personal quest "Old School Goul" and the side quest "I don't hurt anymore",has anyone found out a way so I can talk to them instead of them spouting the same generic lines over and over?

Are they still at Camp McCarran? Or Forlorn Hope?

Hmmm, my best guess is that the game has gotten them stuck "in transit" from McCarran to Forlorn Hope. I dunno, punch Sterling in the face and then yield, maybe that will reset them. Otherwise, you may just have to revert to a prior save.

Tried didn't work I guess I'll have to wait until they patch it.

Nope. Won't work. You have to finish the Betsy quest before you finish the quest that starts them on the way to CFH. Otherwise, they just stand there by the bridge, and ignore you. Except for the kid, I think.

I won't put anything else, for fear of spoilers, but, um, you're screwed.

that is HIGHLY incorrect. I have finished the medical quest for besty on MANY playthroughs after they had already been sent to forlorn hope

1st Recon wasn't standing by the bridge anymore in my game since Patch 1.4. They were in the CFH barracks and I think some of them were in the Command Tent. I thought that made more sense too.

Have you spoken with Gorobets about Betsy twice? I always run after 1st Recon right after Nephi near Camp McCarran when they're walking on the hwy back to McCarran so I don't miss them. That's when I do the Betsy quest. Gorobets and Betsy are both right there and you can go back and forth to speak to them both.

True, but there are a couple potential bugs that could be stopping the OP's progress on this one:

* Several users have reported that Corporal Betsy, if she is stationed at Camp Forlorn Hope, will only use a generic reply and not initiate quest dialogue. (This occurs when the quest is initiated while the recon team is still stationed at Camp McCarran and their help is used in the quest Three-Card Bounty, triggering their move to Camp Forlorn Hope, while the quest is still going on, before you have convinced Corporal Betsy that she needs help). A work around to this bug (PC only) is to enter the command "setstage 0015e480 10" to bypass the first stage of the quest. If you continue to experience difficulty increase the final two numbers by multiples of ten (20 then 30, etc.) to bypass each objective that cannot be solved by traditional means.

*Sometimes during the mission if you initiate a dialogue with Corporal Betsy but choose to tell her that Cook-Cook is dead before advising her to deal with her trauma, she will thank you and the dialogue will be over. When you try to initiate another dialogue with her you only receive a generic reply. The same thing happens if you quit the dialogue before you advise her to seek mental therapy; again, you'll be unable to initiate another dialogue.

...whether a patch fixed either of these, I have no idea.
