Help me decide

Post » Wed Oct 19, 2011 1:15 pm

I already have Skyrim reserved but I was thinking of having it upgraded. Now that I am huge fan after starting Oblivion I'm wondering if I should upgrade and why. As of now I like the idea of getting that map, my question is does the collector editon come with the same map or at least a map insert in the game? What does the collectors edition have that really made you get it? I'm not sure how much more money it even is but the GameStop guy said I should upgrade, of course he did lol.

In sorta stuck because of the whole map thing, if the upgrade still includes it then I'll change my order. It's just that sometime I feel collector editions have really cool things but sometimes they leave out some of the stuff you'd get if you just paid for the cheaper one and sometimes that's all I want. Thanks for any responses. I know I should decide for myself but I'd also like to hear why you guys decided to go with the collector edition.

You don't need the collector addition to get the map, you get the map if you pre order. The collectors addition comes with a book on it, and a small statue, and I think some video on behind the scenes.

It I had the EXTRA money for it. I might, but I'm just pre ordering it. If your just interested in the map, just pre order without collector.

i HAD it pre-ordered. But in the end, I decided there were more important things than a dragon statue.

(Hello new shotgun mic :D With you I shall make awesome movies n such with great ease)

But yeah, just, take into consideration wether or not you really want the stuff included. Only thing i REALLY wanted was the art book. Which I might just go to ebay for. x:

If it comes down to food or the Collector's Edition...
Get the Collector's Edition! Are you a fan or aren't you?!!?

Just kidding. Get it if you think it's worth it. Don't if you don't.

As an aside, I think the price point is off. I -would- have payed $100 for it. $150 is just too much for me to justify, however. I doubt the amount of money gained by adding 50 bucks to the pricetag will be enough to offset the lost sales.

$150 bucks for a plastic dragon statue, the map which you'd already get, a nice hardcover artbook, and a making of DVD. Not worth it, in my opinion.

I don't think its necessary, but when has a collectors edition ever been necessary? It's just something if you want to pull it out in 15 years time and say, hey I remember this, hey I remember that, this was cool, that was not so cool. Nostalgia factor really.

The CE is $150. There is no way to justify that. Ever. Do not upgrade. If you want the extras, buy them on amazon or ebay a few weeks after release for a few bucks and use the extra money for something else, or donate it to charity, or burn it to stay warm. That'll still be a better use for that extra $90 than buying the CE. Haha, but yeah, that's just my opinion.

Change the lame dragon statue to an authentic skooma pipe and I'd buy it.

Not, not, not. I really don't think it's worth it. The game's the important bit, the rest of it is just junk that will end up just sitting there.

Not true.
I have money to get CE.
Hell, I have enough money to pay Bethesda to make a special edition just for me (thrust me on that one), but I'm still not going to do it.
Why?
Because it's totally overpriced and contend of CE isn't that special at all!

Knowing how to handle of your money is a very important thing (which is one of reason why I have it).

Don't believe me that Skyrim CE is overpriced?
Just compare http://eu.starcraft2.com/features/collector/ and http://www.elderscrolls.com/community/bethesda-softworks-announces-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-collectors-edition-0/.
Also, remember that SC2 CE costs 100€ and that Skyrim CE costs 150€.

I really don't think its worth it, the perks of the collector's edition just don;t equal the money. Yes the dragon is nice, and yes the concept art book could be interesting, but are those two items really worth an additional $100?

not worth the money at all if you ask me, biggest rip off and over priced collectors edition i have ever seen. i could understand if it was like £70 or something but £130 is just dumb to pay for a statue, picture book which you will see on the internet a week after the game releases and a 'making of skyrim' dvd. sure you have better things to use your money to buy.

I say no. Don't let developers think it's okay to take 150 from anyone. Maybe if enough people don't blow their money on a stupid statue they will realize that they should make a lesser and cheaper version that just includes the artbook and soundtrack for a little bit more than original price. It is overpriced and they should have made a cheaper version, just sayin.
