Help decode letters from a 1999 murder case

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:15 am

The letters are from the victim. They were found in his pants pocket and the FBI hasn't been able to decode them.

I thought that, since the forums are so good at solving other problems, we could put our brains together and work on this.

This is actually very interesting, and would be pretty cool to figure out what these messages say. However, I can barely make out all of the letters, so I doubt I'd be of any help. Definitely reminds me of the Zodiac case, which is pretty neat.

It would be a shame if they were cracked and it turned out they had nothing to do with the murder.

I haven't looked at the associated material that has been released with the codes themselves, hopefully they have some plain writing samples.

This reminds me of a case from the 40's, a man was murdered with notes that no one could decipher which was kept inside a hidden pocket.

I think stuff like this is so cool.
The code is cool. Not the murder.

This guy had his own little language that only he used.

I wonder if he would have been any good at chess?

If you're going to encode what you write, please take the time to write legibly.

Is there anyplace I can find the letters rewritten so I can copy and paste them?

The eggplant (Solanum melongena) is a plant of the family Solanaceae (also known as the nightshades) and genus Solanum. It bears a fruit of the same name, commonly used in cooking.

I wonder if it is any good at chess?

I'm on a roll today...

Heh, the last comment on that page

I'm gonna send this to the FBI. They'll know what to do.
