Help? Everybody Red

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 11:20 am

Making me crazy and I'm new enough that I have NO idea how to fix this or how I goofed up. Went to Magaton and had a few words with Lucas Simms, no problem. Saved and signed off game. Got back on, and everybody I try to speak with (Walter and bystanders, for instance) have one option -- in red. Pickpocket. Can't talk to any of them?

What's happening? How can I fix or avoid this if I start again?

Thanks

Now... pardon me for possible stupidity but..
Are you crouching? Sneaking, that is?
That's the mode where you pickpocket people. Stand up and you can talk.

You are sneaking. Check the top portion of the screen.

If it says [HIDDEN] or [DETECTED] then you are in "sneak mode" and a switch to third person view will reveal that you are crouched (should be able to tell this in first person though).

OMG. If you needed any proof that I was totally new at this game, I guess you got it! I know I got kindness and great information/attitude from you in return. That makes me feel MUCH better. Thank you all, so much. I love the game, but I'm having to creep through it trying to get it sorta figured out. Even on the simple stuff!

Heh, don't feel bad, I started the series with Fallout 3, and it took me 2 weeks IRL to learn that to holster a weapon all you had to do was hold square (I play on PS3) and not keep going into your invo to disarm, lower fists, rearm.

Since you're new, a bit of advice, don't worry about the metro tunnels to get to Rivet City, just follow the river and it'll take you to Rivet City. The metro tunnels are hectic for newbies to get the swing of usually.

Oh dear, classic school boy error. Check-out the "http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1201785-am-i-the-only-one/." thread on this forum and you'll see all the other sillyness people did when they were new. At least you didn't do a WHOLE PLAYTHROUGH without realising you can repair weapons

I also played Morrowind for months before I realized you could pickpocket people. :P
