Hi all,

I'm trying to join the Companions, and everything goes fine until the initiation. After Farkas swears his loyalty to me, I can't move and no one moves or speaks. I can look around and the music and other sound effects keep going, but it's like my feet are in cement. I saw a post in another forum where someone mentioned there being someone absent from the initiation, and I do only have four others (including Farkas) there while I've seen five in other people's videos. I'm assuming the fifth person is Vilkas because I haven't been able to find him since Farkas and I got back to Jorrvaskr. I've waited for hours to see if Vilkas will show up, but I still haven't seen him. So, is my game just broken now? Will Vilkas never show up and therefore I'll never be able to complete the initiation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never mind, after running all over Jorrvaskr and after waiting several hours, I finally spotted Vilkas. After I spoke to him, the 'Return to Jorrvaskr' objective was finally completed. I'm sure it will go fine now. If not, I'll come back and edit this post.

I think the main thing to take away from this is you MUST speak to Vilkas before going through with the initiation. The quest arrow actually points to the initiation, not Vilkas, but you MUST speak to him first. Otherwise, you're just going to get stuck immediately following the initiation.

Wow, it was still broken even after I completed 'Return to Jorrvaskr' and 'Follow Vilkas' because Vilkas was just standing around like a moron and wouldn't join the initiation. I was stuck again! So I just left it there while I started typing a complaint here, when suddenly (like five or ten minutes later) Vilkas walks up, joins the circle, and everything goes back to normal. Problem solved.

So if you get stuck there, just wait it out. At least that worked for me. Finally.
