Guys, I'm really desperate. When entering some locations (Embershard Mine, Redoran's Retreat) the game just hangs on the loading screen. Anyone knows why this happens? Both places are cave-like, think it might be related somehow?

Its not just caves, I posted about this problem awhile ago, but since this forum is flooded with repeated topics... well.

On my current character I would say that about... 35-40% of the places I try to enter(mostly dungeons and other places, not houses and such.) I get stuck on loading screen forever.
So basically im missing on like....alot of quests.

That's exactly what I get, except you seem to be getting it with a lot more places than I. So far I can't enter Embershard Mine, Redoran's Retreat and the Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood. In both Embershard and Redoran's, the game just hangs on the loading screen forever (I checked on the task manager and the Skyrim process stops responding). On the Sleeping Giant Inn, the game also hangs on the loading screen but after a while it just crashes to the desktop without any error message. This really needs to be fixed!

Ok, try reinstalling the game, did the trick for me for some reason

For me so far there are two locations I can't get in to:
Dustman's Crypt (2nd level of the dungeon you get sent to for the Companions quest Proving Honor)
Grave Concoctions (alchemy shop in Falkreath)

I got the game from steam so I'm not sure I can reinstall it without redownloading the whole thing.

Ilinalta's Deep, same problem

I've got the same issue. I can't get into Whiterun or Dragonsreach via fast travel or using the gate. If I load a save file from a couple days ago I can get in but not if I use my latest (or several recent) save. This appears to be something in the save file itself. I can transfer my saved games to my other PCs (tried on two others) with clean Skyrim installs and have the same issue.

I completely redownloaded the game and now I can get into Ilinalta's Deep so that's a good sign.

Wow, that is some weird stuff. I'll try to remember that trick for future problems.

In the future if issues pop up like this one can also go into your Steam library, right click on the game and bring up Properties.
There one can find a tab that will have a choice to 'Check game Cache' or some such similar text.
Thta might fix things like this without having to do a full re-install.

Yeah I can get into all of the locations I couldn't before and haven't had the problem again since I did a full redownload so I guess something was corrupt.

Same problem here when trying to enter Morthal... both on foot or carriage. Gets to the "Discoverd Met...." and screen freezes.

I have the DVD version, and did a "check game cache" from steam...no love.

I have the exact same problem and it's not my system. I have uber system and all my drivers are updated. I read the forums today and luckily did not run steam and get an updated exe forced patch. I have the pre patch exe with the laa patch. This is my only dilemma

Oh and add to the fact that I'm in a cave trying to get out but now I can't because it hangs in the loading screen and I don't want to start all over again. My last save before the cave was like 4 days ago... ughh..

I just started getting stuck any time I tried entering skyrim from an indoor place
Lowering the graphics from Ultra to High has done the trick for me so far. But my system is more than capable of running on Ultra so I am a bit peeved at the moment

Embershard Mine works fine for me, although I'm having the same issue with some others like Alftand for example.
