Help! Game is not working

Post » Sat May 17, 2014 10:18 pm

Well, I didn't really want this to be the start of fallout 3...but it has. I successfully installed the game and I can run it up to "start new game" where it then crashes "Fallout has stopped working..."

I am running it on my laptop windows 7 vista. It said something about the colour scheme not being the normal setting for windows, although I can't seem to find out how to fix it. Does anybody know what I should do? I thought fallout was compatible with windows 7?

I have had a look around, I did try this "set threadedAi = 1" trick and it has not worked. I have to admit im disappointed. I haven't got the time to spend hours mucking around my system to get a game working, I had exactly the same problem with the Witcher. I did everything and the game refused to work for me. This was after a week of hard work :(

Most laptops are not designed to run 3D games. Do you have a dedicated graphics card on the laptop or CPU based graphics? Some games won't run on the CPU based graphics.

CPU based graphics? I do not fully understand that. Also, Oblivion runs fine on it.

That means nothing, Fallout uses some shaders that Oblivion didn't. Post a DXDiag of your system so people have a better idea of what kind of hardware you have.

Oblivion is also a couple of years older than Fallout 3 and both games have different specs just like any game out there will have different needs at least on the pc side.

We need to know what your video card is, what your processor is and how much ram you have.

Windows 8 needs more resources to run than Vista since Windows 8 is more designed to run on newer computers also you might not have the best drivers for the videocard if you changed the operating system.
