Help! I'm getting stomped!

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:15 pm

I'm level 13 and trying to complete a quest where I have to go into a foundry and retrieve a sword for some settler. Not sure why I agreed to do this. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

I'm in power armor and I'm still getting stomped by the "Forged". Haven't even been able to get into the building without getting roasted by someone with a flamer.

These guys seem to be a lot tougher than your garden-variety raiders.

When I tried sneaking around the back I ran right into a bunch of "Gunners" who didn't seem particularly friendly either.

I'm out of ideas except for "come back when I'm tougher".

True, I did the BoS quest where you track the distress signals at very early levels and was being insta-killed by Super Mutants. I finished the quest by repeatedly running in to find the holotape location and then finally sneaking past, grabbing it and running away. So your options are

- wait and gain levels

- sneak and and try to grab it and run.

As has been previously stated, the forged are quite high level. Best to come back in about 10+ levels. If you are dieing repeatedly trying to get to the front door then there is a guy inside who will absolutely murder you.

I imagine that the forged you are fighting have a skull next their health bar, this means they out level you significantly. One or two enemies with skulls can be overcome if you have enough firepower and range, but if everyone, even the grunts have skulls then it's time to run.

Come back at higher levels and with a tanky companion. Strong did rather well in there. Get your Power armor of choice up past A rank ( C gave me enough HP to get in and out), and fully trick out either a set of early weapons (A fully auto 10mm with a reflex sight and geared for damage did most of the work for me), or bring as much ammo for the minigun as you can get. And save up stims, buffout, and jet.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. SAVE when you get to the power armor stand, and the boss room has two collectibles. Good Luck!

Minutemen quest sent me there early too. I finished it somewhere between 13 and 20. Maybe left and went back don't remember. Cut my teeth on that mission. learned a bit about stealth on the outside and chems on the inside.

there's a spotlight on the outside you can shoot out if you have a silencer and a sniper weapon. Can pick people off and move when they come searching where the shot came from. Bunch of guys on the roof you don't see until they start shooting at you. Flamers everywhere inside and out. 3 big fights, outside, in the main room and the boss. Can use a jet or ultra jet for each part.

Flamers inside likely rush you from the left. Can drop a mine or two and go right, think theres a flamer there too, as well as 2-3 shooters in the room. Most with cage armor.
