Help identifying mod.

It has been some time since I last changed my load order and as such knowing exactly what does what is a bit diffuse for me. So, on to the problem at hand. This is the first time I'm playing a character dependent on mostly Enchant (an Atronach-born mage/warrior). The issue is about soul gems, their function and soul trap. I recently acquired Soul Drinker from the Mages Guild, and later went on to acquire the Staff of Magnus. While there I had several empty soul gems on me, up to the greater variety, as I met the welcoming committee. In front of me there was a Daedroth, whose soul my blade thirsted for. Problem was, that despite hitting the Daedroth multiple times with the blade, despite seeing the cloud of mysticism circling around it and finishing it off with another weapon, the soul didn't get trapped. Now I'm aware that a Daedroth has a grand soul, but I'm pretty sure that souls should still go the largest one available if there isn't a soul gem large enough to contain the entire soul.

Noticing that, I test it out on a summoned anscestral ghost, this time with only the blade. Same result. I try it again with the first setup. Now it works. I try it with a soul trap spell, nothing. Is it there a chance of success or something?

Next up I try recharging my weapon. It succeeds but the soul gem is "used up" and disappears from my inventory. I thought soul gems are preserved whether or not the recharge is a success?

Later I return to Balmora and decide to try out enchanting. With a buffed intelligence, I make a small ring with Water walking. While it is successfully enchanted, the soul gem is once again "used up". However, I do recall soul gems only getting destroyed if the enchantment is a failure. This makes me suspect this is the doing of a mod.

So, does anyone have an idea on which mod is causing this?

I don't enchant so I don't know what your meaning is, and wether or not it's from mods, but try disabling all of the balance mods and see what happens. Some balance mods lower enchant success and things like that.

No, if there is no gem large enough to contain the whole soul, it will not be trapped.

The gems are always used up.

Later I return to Balmora and decide to try out enchanting. With a buffed intelligence, I make a small ring with Water walking. While it is successfully enchanted, the soul gem is once again "used up". However, I do recall soul gems only getting destroyed if the enchantment is a failure. This makes me suspect this is the doing of a mod.


Again, the gem is always used up except for Azura's Star. All this is totally normal.
