Help importing head nif

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 3:32 pm

I have used the CTRL+F4 keys to export the head of an NPC I want to use and I could use a little help getting it to work properly.

When I add the new head in the editor it loads in the preview screen and everything looks fine except the neck is comming out of the top of the head.
If I attach the head to a character it generates this error

FACEGEN: Failed to load 'actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\Skyrim.esm\TESTHEAD_19a3.NIF' in BSFaceGenModel::LoadModelMesh.

ignoring it loads everything except the face, the hair, eyes mouth etc are there but no face.

Does anyone know how to fix this or direct me to a tutorial?

You shouldn't need to do anything with these files. Are you editing this nif elsewhere to customize it, or using custom head nifs for this actor?

Initially I didnt do anything to the nif, just exported it and tried to load it.

I only edited the nif to fix the neck issue, this appeared to me to be caused by the position of all the parts on the X axis when I compared it to another persons custom head.

The head now shows up properly in the HeadPart form preview window but stil generates that error when trying to preview it in the character or race forms.
I was wrong about the parts that were showing, they are actually default parts loading in the preview
