Help: Input from a DarkUIdDarn user please

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:42 am

If this is true, this is news to me, but I do not use this mod, which is why I am asking...

I am going to be really off today (and I already am) so bear with me, please.

No. It takes Dark UI and makes it like Darnified UI (with a less attractive retexture, in my opinion.) If you want a dark retexture and a minimal hud, get Dark UI and Immersive Interface. There are instructions for the tweak you need to make to use them together (only two changes) in the Dark UI ReadMe.

I don't remember having that issue, but my next install is on pause right now, so I can't verify that.

Personally, I think DarkUId DarN is the nicest UI of all for Oblivion, but hey, to each their own. Some of the recolourings are also quite good, IMO.

I love the original Dark UI texture. I know I am in the minority user group, but I like what I like.

Some DarkUIdDarn user must use the scroll button...right?

That has nothing to do with Dark DarNUI. The mousewheel behaviour is hardcoded in the game, and takes work to change.

The zooming in and out is controlled with a specific gamesetting (in terms of speed, which you can exploit to turn it off entirely). The menu scrolling cannot be changed, and as far as I can tell, can only be interfered with by manually editing the Oblivion.ini, and then having a script catch certain "control" activations. Like I said, it takes work.

Either that player is wrong, or he has messed up his mouse settings somehow.

Good to know. I think that my broken brain was thinking somewhere along those lines, but it is floating a bit too much...(still have not slept yet. :D)

Thanks for the replies all!

The only scroll wheel issue I've had is that I can scroll the selection off of the bottom of the inventory (or container content) because the code appears to calculate the number of displayed entries based on max resolution. Since I run at less than max for FPS and legibility reasons, I see less entries than are possible, and can move the selection to entries beyond the list shown. I can actually equip/drop those items even though they're not displayed! I don't know if that was introduced by DarkUiDarn, or was also in "standard" DarnUi, or even in vanilla, but I didn't notice it at those stages.

That behavior is not characteristic of vanilla or Dark UI. I did not notice it when I had DarkUIdDarn installed, but I did not have that installed for a significant period of time, maybe not even a full day.
