Every time I kill an NPC, there is a full second of lag. It's unbearable!

Everything else is stellar. My mods are all in good order as far as I know.

Has anyone had this problem with a particular mod, and could tell me which one it is so I can fix it?

(I can't find anything on this problem elsewhere.)
