Help! I've "lost" ED-E!

Post » Sat Dec 13, 2008 7:12 pm

This is seriously annoying, can anyone help!?!?

I was plundering through one of the Vaults, on a side mission, when some flammable gasses got ignitied. I nearly died, Boone was knocked unconcious and ED-E simply dissapeared!
I searched the whole of the vault (all 5 levels). My world map is showing ED-E as being in the vault, but my local map doesnt show its location. ED-E's not dead, as I have its perk still, and when i try to recruit another non-human companion, i cant because I still have ED-E!
I need to find him to get rid of him!

Is there any to fix this?? I've played through roughly a week (in-game time) hoping that he'd default back to Primm, but no avail!

My guess would be that the explosion from the gases threw him out of the map, into the abyss, and I dont think he can get out of there :( If you are on computer then there is probably some console command you can do to get him back, but if your on a console (like me) you're probably screwed. Try checking the Vault and look up glitches and bugs for ED-E.

Try the magic elevator in Vault 22.

He should come back. I think what happens is ED-E gets rendered above the ceiling in a cell and that is why he goes AWOL, as it usually seems to happen indoors.

Just fast travel to some locations, and maybe clear the cache the next time you start the game up. As long as they are in follow mode, they should fast travel with you.

I can see that happening because of his behavior when we go swimming in Cottonwood Cove. He drops down into the water and hovers above the riverbed at the height he'd be if we were on land. I wondered if there was a setting for an eyebot to adjust his hovering height based on the top of the water (in caves, etc.) instead of the riverbed since he shouldn't be able to swim. I imagine him getting water-logged or rusting this way.

ED-E is one of the weirdest things in the game even thou he floats he still takes the same paths as Boone.
This happened in vault 22 im guessing and the way i got him back was useing the elevator.
