Hello fellow forum members

Just asking for some help here, don't worry there are no spoilers.

I'm at the area where there is steamy mini geyser-like flat plains, just south of Windhelm. There's a Word Wall on the hill in the middle of these plains and a Blood Dragon flying around guarding it.

Everytime I go close to this area the dragon starts flying backwards and doing funny animations but it never lands and is too far away for me to shoot it. Worse still the frame-rate just chugs painfully along. I can't clear this area. Does anyone out there know what I need to do to kill the dragon and get the word wall? Framerate just stutters and freexes the whole game up so I end up reloading.

I'm on Xbox.

This is a known bug associated with patch 1.2

I think it will be adressed in 1.3

You could try sneaking up to the wall to get the shout without alerting the dragon.
A potion of invisibility might help for that.

It's not the area, it's the dragon itself. In 1.2, they seem to fly backwards, causing the framerate, at times, to drop quickly.

Not all of them. I've encountered one with this problem, but since then I've killed at least ten other dragons.

This is a known problem and Bethesda is working on a fix. At the moment I'm not aware of any work-around, such dragons are simply best avoided until they have been repaired.
