help needed - weird problem enabling screen shots

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:36 am

I want to take screen shots in an existing, saved game and have changed 'Sceen Shot Enable=0' to 'Screen Shot Enable=1'. However, after changing the .ini as directed, when I try to take ths screen shot using the PrtScr button, I continue to get the message to make the change to the morrowind.ini file. I have double-checked the .ini file to confirm that the change of 0 to 1 was made, so I'm at a loss at where to go to from here.

I'm playing the GOTY edition (MW, Tribunal and Bloodmoon) on Win XP Pro, SP 3. I have mods installed including MGE, MCP and MPP.

Thanks,

John

I discovered that MGE is the probable culprit of my problem. Therefore, this thread might be better placed in the Morrowind mods section.

OK. Apologies to everyone for the inconvenience. I finally got things squared away to print screen shots. The issue was with MGE and how it works with the morrowind.ini file. The procedure I had to follow was to start the MGE Gui program, choose input tab and launch its macro editor. In my case, I chose to assign the function of print screen to the keyboard's PrtScr button for consistency with my other programs.

One thing that did confuse me at first after I saved and closed MGE was that, once I loaded a saved game and hit PrtScr, I still got the message that I had to change the morrowind.ini file to enable screen shots. However, when I checked my Morrowind game folder (where the executable is), I did find the screen shots I made. FYI, the shots were labeled MGE Screenshot #.bmp where # is the xth screenshot made.

Hope this helps someone to not repeat my mistake.

When you use MGE, you cannot take screenshots in the normal manner. This is well known.
You have to create a macro with MGE to do so.

The MGE wiki explains this, as does the FAQ in any MGE thread on these forums.
