Help me out here

Spend 1,000 on a decent rig and then the rest on a new tv.

Plug the pc into the tv and purchase a 360 controller adapter.

Best of both worlds!

Hit the proverbial nail on the head.

You can get a very nice gaming PC for 1000-1500 dollars (I assume; I'm converting it into GBP to compare), especially if you do a self-build and avoid overpriced pre-built machines. On the other hand, you can build an absolute monster of a PC for (less than) 2500.

Either way, get a PC. Think of the mods! The additional configuration! The graphics! The LEDs*!

*LEDs optional.

Thanks dude I think i will wait at least till E3 time when Skyrim is showcased can't wait

Also one thing you must make sure of is that your comfortable playing games on a PC. A lot of people who are used to consoles have trouble playing on a PC because it's so different. Your not reclined back relaxed with a comfortable controller in your hand, you have the keyboard and mouse to get used to and just sitting so close in an upright position is just different.

How has this thread not been locked yet?

But anyway I agree with DeSetuede, in saying that you should connect your computer to your tv, and buy a controller adapter.

This way, you get the console commands, construction kit, and mods, while playing from the comfort of your couch.

Its what I plan on doing.

Well I'm open to the idea but first comes visual quality :)

Visual Quality?

I'd take mods any other day. PC of course will usually have better texture and a high res. But picking a format over which looks nicer?

I know that this may seem like a stupid question to some but I would like your opinion. So I have been saving and have about $2500 spare, now I've always been a console person with the 360 but My friends all have High end gaming rigs and have voiced there opinions numerous times how much pc games look better compared to consoles. Heres my dilemma I either buy a High end rig or spend the money on a new LED tv because i figured it should look better on the tv right because your a further distance away?

My opinion is that a better screen won't make console graphics look any better at all, unlike a new rig.

So to elaborate, better visual quality, mods and much more means your going to get more hours out of the PC (Can't say that for sure but in terms of replayability). I for one don't use a rig that can even play Oblivion on PC so its Xbox 360 for me and frankly it does not matter because I've managed to get out a load out of just the pure vanilla, by that I mean about 2,500 hours. It does remain to be said however that PC does have that potential to deliver really wacky mods (Just look at some for Oblivion that were made) so if your happy with the bog standard I'd say just ignore forking out on PC thats going to cost you an arm or a leg. But....PC, it will look better.

I'd always recommend TES games on a PC because of the mods. I also used to recommend a pc over a console for gaming generally but I've done a bit of a 180 on that.

I have many games on my ps3 but choose which platform I buy a game on based on the games, features and reviews. I've found that some games simply feel designed for consoles whereas others feel better on pc.

I really like an LED tv and it'll be enjoyed by you for gaming, movies and tv for a long time to come. Likewise a good pc is great to have and has many uses.

Both are good options but with the information you've given, despite my opinion that tes games are more fun on a pc, the tv or cheaper versions of both options seems right for you.

PC is obviously better, graphics and experience wise.( experience wise, could differ from person to person regarding PC gaming )Yes there is lots more you can do with it. But if the OP is new to PC gaming he/she needs to know the up's and down's of it.
And can be daunting when your new to it. If he/she has help and advice regarding PC gaming ,he/she will be fine, but it's not all a bed of roses. There are many factors to consider here, not just graphics or mods. Even factors like comfort, the space in your room, will i need a new desk etc,all sorts to consider. As for mods and options...great,when they work, not all mods work well with each other, some cause more hassle or conflict with each other. Like i've stated: If you have patience, and a little know-how,and support,PC gaming can be very rewarding indeed, but that does not mean you can hide the downsides to it,especially to someone new to it....it's unfair and wrong in my opinion. Then if he/she decides to get a PC,you then need guidance in what your buying too. There is alot more to it than graphics and mods alone. And as i also suggested, don't just go of whats heard on this forum, look into it properly. Because as per-usual,idiotic,or biased posts seem to take over from the more sensible one's.....and thats a shame.
