Help my parents understand!

Post » Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:03 pm

ok, so i got a new monitor, and its BIG, like 24 inches, and it looks expensive, like its a thousand dollars or something (When its really like 150), but I'm 17, living with my parents, and I'm afraid they are going to be like OMG hes a DRUG DEALER! When he sees it, and that concerns me. How do I explain to them that I bought this legitamatley? i guess I could just show them a recipt, but still, it looks BIG in my room.

You just answered your own question. It doesn't matter how big it is, if you can prove to them it wasn't expensive then they can't get mad at you for anything...

Show them a receipt? Honestly I don't see why they'd question it, unless they already suspect you to be dealing :P.

Just show them the receipt when they ask about it, which they probably won't even do. I don't see what you're getting so worked up about.

And I totally agree with Exorince.

Um, you have the receipt. That is enough. An explanation isn't even needed.

Edit- Well, that is of course if you got the money legitimately. If so, explain that then.

This calls for duct tape and a small ferret with a hat.

Without this there's no way they will believe you.

Just make sure you don't put the receipt in the pocket you keep your drugs in! It would be awkward if, upon showing them the receipt, one of your bags of crack slipped out, revealing the secret you've been hiding for all these years ;)

THanks for the response guys, but these are MY parents, and to try to not sound like the steriotype of a teenager, ill be brief. My parents are paranoid, I never do anything bad, like drugs or stealing, etc, but they are always wary of everything I do. When I had a girlfriend a year ago, they changed the locks on the house so she wouldnt be able to use my key to get in. I can just imagine what they will think when they see my monitor.

If you show them the receipt and they still don't believe you, then I'm not sure if there's anything else you can do. You must have extremely un-trusting parants if they don't believe that you it's only $150.

There's nothing more that can be done. Short of video taping yourself buying the thing.

Oh, they'll believe him when he says he spent $150... but they'll see right through his lies and correctly assume that the monitor contains $150 worth of drugs.

Only one solution, bribe them to look the other way using your drug money.

I'd hold on to the receipt in case they ask about it or act suspicious about how you got the large monitor, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. I also wouldn't suggest going out of your way to tell them it's legitimate or they suddenly suspect the opposite.

If you have the receipt, and they STILL don't believe you then it's time to tell them you're actually an under-cover agent and the FBI bought you the monitor....and that you're also a drug dealer selling nuclear missiles for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l91ISfcuzDw

Its a saying that I heard from a friend meaning: Ignore it (the situation) and move on. (something like that).
EDIT: Just do that AFTER showing the receipt.

Just tell them that you bought the monitor at [insert store of choice here] if they ask. If they want to see proof give them the receipt. If they don't ask then you're good.

So... Did you just go up and tell her that you bought a new monitor and that "it's legit"? That's always more suspicious than saying nothing.

Besides, how are we, the internet, supposed to convince your mother of this?
