Help me pick best wife and follower?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:08 am

Hey everyone. Question before I go night-night.

I'm level 30 and thinking about looking for a wife in the near future, maybe. Does anyone have any favorites? I'm taking appearance and disposition as my two most important deciding factors. I've had my eye on Ysolda from Whiterun for awhile..."It's a fine day with you around ;)" ":3 thank you"

Secondly, although Sven is loyal, he's often going down. I *suspect* that because I picked him up at such a low level that his stats are way below that of the general populace. Do you guys have any favorites that I should consider? I'm open to pretty much any suggestions so long as the individual isn't incredibly annoying (i.e. no Lydia).

For a wife, Aela's a popular choice. I'd say go with whomever's voice annoys you the least.
For a follower, the lady at the Shrine of Azura is very powerful, I hear.

You hate Lydia?

*headbutt*

Uthgerd the Unbroken in Whiterun might be a good followed. Mjoll the Lioness in Riften might be a good follower AND wife.

I am married to Ysolda, but have Lydia in another house in Whiterun. I only go to Ysolda to get my gold from her earnings as a trader. I then return to Lydia and we head out to kill and maim across the Skyrim world.

Aela frightens me a bit to be honest, I think because she reminds me of some chick from Scrubs...

@Adebar, OW. I don't hate her per se, it's just that the whole "My Thane" things kinda gets old after awhile. And I wouldn't mind having a non-follower wife, since that'd make it easier to have an adventure buddy and a sammich buddy.

As for Uthgerd, she just looks mean ._. But I guess that's what helmets are for!

EDIT: Another concern with Lydia is that because I met her early on, I'm afraid her stats are as low as Sven's. But I don't know if this is a confirmed bug or not...I'm playing on the 360, so I can't check her stats with cc.

DOUBLE-EDIT: Sylgia is kinda cute. I've passed through Shor's Stone, I guess I'll have to revisit and see what's what...

Pardon the bump (though I know it won't be, ye feisty forum-goers), but I'm just looking for a few more members' opinions before I head back out into the world of Skyrim in a bit :)

My char married Jordis the Swordmaiden. Shes sort of like a blond version of Lydia. Shes available after you buy a house from Solitude and become a thane.

for a follower i use the dunmer at the shrine to azura, she usually summons a fire atronach and uses decent spells, plus you can give her a sword and she seems decent with it

I still want to marry Lydia, but the dialogue option has not appeared. I'm level 17 and have completed A Cornered Rat, if that makes a difference. Aela is also very nice, or maybe one of the other companions, such as Ria or Njada.

So I'm taking Mjoll the Lioness around for a bit, she's a good companion and has a nice voice. But she's no Lydia. :(

I married Uthgerd the Unbroken in Whiterun. But i have two questions what happens if your wife is killed while on a quest with you. Also how many wives can you have at any one time.

Little update. Decked Sven out in Ebony armor today, he's still getting hit hard. He's craptastic when it comes to fighting mages...not sure if I need to enchant his armor or just a find a follower skilled in magic. Maybe one of the mages mentioned above...

I just am so happy that you have so much freedom to choose a marriage mate. You have so many different options!

You can:

Marry the hot housewifey type: Ysolda

Marry the butch warrior gal: Mjoll, Uthgerd

Marry the Hot warrior gal: Aela

or just some random teenage farm girl that gets chewed out by her parents all the time (actually, I should have checked if any were interested...)

I was thinking that marrying a woman that was a smith would be neat, but the gal in Whiterun wasn't interested. I didn't try the one in Windhelm though...

I picked Aela, we go hunting together, I'm kind of a archer/warrior type myself. "Couples who slay together stay together"

Wonder who the good catches are for the ladies of Skyrim...

I'm still holding out hope for Karliah, whether it's something that Bethesda changes or a mod does.... who wouldn't want to marry that sultry voiced rogue?!

I went with Mjoll, but on second thought, I kinda wish I'd got in with a mage. Any chance of a Divorce in this game?

If you're on PC, there's an fix for the "followers svck as you level up bug." You open the console, click on them, and type "disable". Then WITHOUT CLOSING THE CONSOLE you type "enable." This forces the game to re-load the NPC, scaling them to your current level.

keep in mind that with some women you cant change their appearance or equip them with armour. i married Sylgia and shes nice, and gives me money from her store, but she's always wearing those miner clothes and pickaxe and its annoying she wont change her clothes.

Have you tried reverse-pickpocketing? With the right sneaking perks - to the point where you can literally take the clothes off someone's back - you might be able to change her appearance that way. Otherwise, I guess you can only modify followers.
