Help please, got lost in a cave!

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:10 pm

I know this does only happen to me. I recently installed a bunch of mods and one of those must have added a new cave to the ascadian isles region, near the egg mine it was, iirc. I was curious and went in there to loot and now I cannot find the exit anymore. Plus I'm out of torches and can't see anything down there. I just made this new character and I don't want lose it again now, just because of something stupid like that. Can someone please help me. :(

Please, seriously you got to help me out of there. It took me ages to make that character. It has custom hair and clothing and I found some enchanted spear, which I will never find again, cause I forgot where I got it from.

I can't remember the name. But it was a very long one and had somewhat of a foreign language to it, not sure, but I think it ended with "-shi"

Lol, you guys are mean. If you really are lost then here's a spoiler for you:

Spoiler

Open the console, using the tilde key (it's the one next to '1' ... has a character on it that looks like ~). Now type COC "Balmora" and press enter.

Next, find a spell vendor that sells Almsivi Intervention, and/or Divine Intervention and learn those spells ... or at the very least always carry a scroll of one or the other (or both). You may also want to learn Mark and Recall.

Are you saying you don't have any Intervention spells, scrolls, or items? They are a necessity for any explorer. And you didn't save before entering a strange cave? Try opening up the console and give yourself a torch (I think it is player->additem "torch" 1) or centre on cell (type something like coc balmora). Or just blunder around in the dark navigating by your map.

I'm not sure if I would want to use that console thing, what if it does corrupt my savegame or maybe even worse, if I have to reinstall Morrowind. I'm not a friend of all that technical stuff you know. I got my PC crashed once, as I was trying to type something into it's command console and I wasn't able to use it for an entire week.

Any other sugestions that might not be so risky?

Well, a really cool way that I like to roleplay is to drop coins on the floor wherever you have already been so that you know not to go the same way twice. It would have been cool to do that from the start so that you could follow the trail back out. ;)

COC "balmora" shouldn't corrupt your game.
there are thousands of mods so guessing a cave it kinda difficult,
What's you load list?
if you open the in game local map it will tell you the name of the cave.

Using the console will be fine, especially for something as simple as centre on cell. Just push tilde (~) and type coc balmora. When it stops loading, push tilde again.

That would be...
every cave with more than one level.

So I finally tried that console and it indeed worked out, teleporting me to Balmora. But each time I try, it is excactly teleporting me near to a guard, who is going to arrest me. :( Couldn't I be teleported to let's say a place, which is more safe than Balmora?

Omg, I was able to escape the guard, it couldn't follow me swimming! :) I will avoid those caves in future, won't happen to me again so soon. Much thanks to you all, you really made my day. ;)

For future reference: Always bring a scroll or two of intervention. Even better of you learn the spells. Hell, a night eye or light spell could have helped you out a lot :D

They may be picking on you a bit, but they mean well. Its a good idea if you want to stay alive to have recall or intervention scrolls/spells. And, reason why I quoted you is that when you get into the game a bit more you'll realize just how funny this quote is... they almost all end in "ishi". but I was new to MW once as well and you learn

Also, save more often. Always save before going into any cave, tomb, ruin, shrine . . . basically anywhere there might be something inside that wants to kill you.

That would be just about anywhere outside of town and even some places inside of town...
