Help Ravenius decide on his next character!

Hello,

I'm looking to start a new character in Morrowind and I was hoping for some ideas and suggestions. Specifically, ideas for things to do, things to roleplay and maybe a build to use for these ideas.

Raven's Recent Characters
  • Darcia - Dunmer Wizard who began as a member of the Mages Guild and then jumped ship to House Telvanni as the incompetence and corruption of the Mages Guild became apparent
  • Lucius Tarquin - Retired veteran Legionnaire who inadvertently turned out to look exactly like General Darius. Rejoined the Morrowind Legion, involved with Blades
  • Darsha The Saucy Dark Elf - High personality Dunmer with a emphasis on personality, speechcraft, and stealth-class skills. He started out as a member of the Thieves Guild and while I had him join the Morag Tong I regret it because it didn't fit well with his character
Keep in mind that I really love factions - the length, quality, and variety of Morrowind's guilds are probably the biggest contributing factors to why I prefer Morrowind over subsequent games. I also just played a pure mage character, and a thieving character so I'll be a little hesitant to do those again, but I'm open to any ideas. Also, I probably won't be interested in an idea involving a beast race, or an Orc. Any other races are probably okay though.

Furthermore, if may update this thread, or else make a new thread to chronicle my progress in the game with screenshots, commentary, maybe even some writing if I'm interested enough. So if your idea is what I picked, definitely stay tuned!

Haha that's my female Dunmer: Chimera - House Telvanni (she's a Jackal Mage: Long Blade, Light Armor, Athletics, Alteration, Conjuration & Spear, Illusion, Mysticism, Destruction, Restoration... Birth: Mage)

You could play an Orc or Nord warrior type who has a serious fear of anything magical in nature.

Thank you for the idea, Dragonschild, it could be a good start. What I'm really looking for is something a bit more though... Particularly from a roleplayer's perspective maybe ideas for my character's background, or why he's in Morrowind or what he's looking to accomplish, what factions he might join and why. In addition of course to his race, class, and such. Themes for my character to follow.

Yeah, sorry about the short post, I was at work when I posted and I didn't have a lot of time to respond.

So, I would keep the fear of Magic thing and maybe this fear comes from something that happened in the characters past....maybe his/her parents were killed by a mage or maybe one or both of the parents were mages and they were killed during some kind of experiment that they were working on. Reason for being in Morrowind? maybe they were arrested for hunting down spellcasters trying to find those that were responsible for their parents death or something along those lines. Upon arriving in Morrowind and hearing about the Mages guild there and the Great House Telvanni they could have decided that they would eradicate all spellcasters on the island.

Just a couple on the spot ideas. You can make the backstory if you use them, these are just premises.

An Imperial Agent with a lust for gold and power. Get's his papers, but he throws them away. There's no money in working for the Emperor, everyone knows that. Now Hlaalu or the East Empire Company, he could work with them, or at the least use them. There's money in those plantations and mines, and he wants a slice. Not to mention rumours of a new mine on Solstheim. Best done with mods. Would level up with Hlaalu, and then go to make cash in Solstheim perhaps only to find himself wrapped up in something larger than he imagined or wanted. With mods he's likely to avoid fighting and let a paid merc take the beatings when he can't. Pretty sure there's a plantation management mod too.

A racist Nordic Barbarian, hates elves. Would rather camp outside a dark elf town than sleep inside it's walls. He hates the Tribunal, and the Devil in the Mountain more though. If he's provoked by a sharp ears, whether it be a full on confrontation or a passing comment, he's going to kill them. Or at least leave them bloodied.
Fighters Guild, Legion perhaps, and the Blades. Would probably take the MQ back route in that case though, as he's likely to just shun the pompous ashlander camps, unless you play it as a means to an end. Would be good for trying out Darknut's Greater Dwemer Ruins if you haven't used them before, and Von Djangos The Tribe Unmourned's voice enhancements.

Your character could be shipped to Morrowind because he got into a drunken brawl in Skyrim and accidentily killed the person he was fighting.

I've always wanted to play the sort of doddering intellectual researcher of the type described in 'The Ruins of Kemel-Ze'. Build would be an Imperial with high personality/mercantile skills, probably unarmored (to wear decent-looking clothes while on an expedition!), and long blade as the combat skill suitable for a gentleman. He would make extensive use of scrolls and enchanted gear for support. Maybe add in a few magical skills, but I prefer to think of this guy as a non-magic user primarily. Take Marksman and use crossbows. Maybe take Alchemy.

The other character he could be based on might be the doctor/naturalist from the film 'Master and Commander' - he was a cultured, educated man who knew how to fence.

As for things to do, I know very little about the game's factions or guilds, so I'm afraid I can't offer many suggestions. Maybe this build isn't even really possible to do in Morrowind.

For a totally different thing, I am also intrigued by the idea of making a temple pilgrim who wanders around doing temple stuff.

How about a Nord, seeking his homeland, fresh out of prison... He's lost... So eventually go to Solstheim? And deal with things from there
