Help me repair a flattened landscape

Post » Sat Sep 13, 2014 2:29 am

I've been working on a worldspace for a while now. Just been using the landscape editor, seems to work except for the LOD.

So, last night I thought I'd try the LOD tools in the CK. I'd read about them a while back. Took a bit of trial and error before I got an export. Then I loaded it up in game and found my nice landscape as flat as the proverbial pancake.

OK, it's my own fault. I read the warnings that this could happen, but it was a week ago and I'd forgotten.

Anyway, my last backup is a week old. However, most of the edits are quests and markers and the like. If I can import that heightmap back into my working plugin I can save myself a lot of grief.

Only question is how?

I tried exporting the old heightmap using the CK (works) and importing it into the flattened esp (Crashes)

I tried copying over the LAND records using TESVSnip. CK won't load the result - says there are errors in the zlib stream.

I tried using TES5Edit, but that wants to make the old copy of my plugin a master for the new one.

Anyone have any ideas? Worst case, I can always keep the flattened world and resculpt the landscape, but I'd prefer not to do that. It would be a real pain making sure nothing was left either floating or buried.

I suspect TES5Edit is the way to go, but all the tutorials are either beginners guides to mod cleaning, or else they document the scripting language and assume you know the internals already. I can't seem to find any medium level tuts. I'd be happy to write a script to do it if I knew what the command set was

Did you try merging the two esp in TES5Edit?

I'm not sure, see if the TES5EDIT script from this thread can help http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1507182-duplicating-whiterun/

It's pretty easy to use to merge esps with worldspaces, but I don't know if that will help you here?
