Help me survive the Mojave Wasteland.

So I'm decently new to the Fallout world in general, especially New Vegas (though it's quickly become possibly my favourite game ever), and I'm starting a Dead Is Dead run partially blind.

I know there's a DiD thread going around, but instead of a thread recording people's progress I could really do with one giving me some tips.

So Fallout NV veterans ... HALP

Which roads do I avoid, which locations make good safehouses whilst I level grind, what level should I be before I attempt what, any tips and hints you have on how to avoid things or find nice loot and just not get shot in the face? (hardcoe mode is also on, btw.)

Join the Legion so you won't have hit squads waiting for you at every corner.

You have no idea how big a question you're asking. You thankfully don't have to grind to gain XP. That's why I'm staying away from Diablo 3. Well, that and I don't want to give myself carpal tunnel syndrome.

Sell, sell, sell. Get your repair skill up to 90 to get the Jury Rigging Perk

Once you're done Goodpsrings, follow the road South and then follow it, gradually making your way up north, doing quests and killing baddies along the way.

Once you get to Novac, there's a badass sniper you can recruit to be your companion. Not far from there is the Broc Flower Cave where you can pick up a damn good unique sniper rifle.

Focus on Speech, Lockpick and Science skills. When you're a lower level, put points into one combat skill to specialize, as you get higher level you can put points in other combat skills.

Sticking to the roads is usually a good way to avoid combat.

Explore, explore, explore.
