Help, I'm trapped & can't get outunEquip from Power Armo

Post » Mon Feb 22, 2016 5:32 pm

Sorry to bother, but I need some help. I obtained some T60 PA (by killing whom I thought was a raider in power armor wandering NW of Hardware Dept in Boston near Diamond City --a chance spawn?-- at long range with my "sniper 10mm recon semiauto, but it ended up being a solitary Steel Brother in PA without a helmet!). I bought a frame at the weapon shop in Diamond City and am now trying to get out of the PA at Home Plate until I can find a helmet T60 helmet. [Separate issue: Does anyone know how to get one without joining the BoS? and without just going out and killing BoS members to get it? I am playing as RailRoad and, of course, for myself (Shaun), so far.]

{FYI background --the T60 is my 2nd suit; I have a T4x helmet from a vertibird site near a Satellite station near Sanctuary where I have a frame with a partial suit of armor on a frame [and, so far, I have avoided Concord -this is my second attempt to get thru the game, last time I made it to level 12 and then I lost both game and computer]. I had no trouble getting out of the PA partial suit from the vertibird at Sanctuary --I don't recall how I did it, I have been trying to see how far into the game I can go without using PA and am just now at level 22.}

I have tried TAB, ESC and I(nventory) with no effect. Controls shows no key for exiting the PA.

Please, someone, what am I overlooking/missing?

In advance, thanks to anyone who helps. best regards, RC

Hold down your 'activate' button. On Pc, this is 'E' unless you've remapped the controls, not sure for consoles.

Hello friend,
Simply hold down the spacebar to exit Power Armor.
There must be enough space around and behind the rig, for you to be able to get out of it.

Maybe go to the south along the oceanfront, and become a member of the Atom Cats.
They sell T-45, T-51 (my fave) and T-60 parts, and Rowdy's prices (on everything) are the best in the game, once you have joined them.
As a Railroad Man you're gonna need a T-51 rig in the gorgeous flat-black Railroad paint scheme, right?
So get right on it!

As an aside, killing everything is bad.
Don't kill guys from way far away! You don't even know who they are.
My first playthrough, I thought I was a super good-guy - then I see I have like fourteen Murders, heheh...
But I did what you did, and shot at anything and everything. Not good.

Come back to this thread if you are still having problems with your power armor rigs. :)

Thanks to all for the replies. I forgot to clearly state that I am on a PC (WIndows 10).

I finally was able to exit the T60 by finding my old T45 save and figuring out that I was able to exit at the Power Armor (repair) station. So I walked in the T60 PA to the nearest PA station I own (Home Plate) and was able to transfer/exit there (and remembered to take out the FC just in case --read to do that in another thread somewhere--).

Yes, I have two murders to my credit so far due to one long-range sniper shot with my beloved 308 and one medium shot with a just as beloved 10mm suppressed Recon semiauto (and a combat shotgun for close in backup work) ---actually, am surprised I do not have more of "murders" since I have taken quite a few long and medium shots, but usually raiders and super mutants are pretty recognisable.... I had just read a few days before in passing a thread about Raiders in PA and did not expect a BoS couple (and only one in PA) to be walking around what had been an active raider zone in the vicinity of the Hardware building so I just took out the (in my eyes) #1 threat (the guy in armor) with a head shot and then snuck-in on the side kick who could not find me and "gave up" since I was a a medium-2-long distance away -- my character has high Perception which I have built to 10 as quickly as I could with gear and 6 SPECIAL points from level 2 on {high sneak + high perception + shadow armor = sniper has been my approach {with high INT for science perks+gun nut}, usually solo, the three companions I have tried --Macready, Cait and Piper do not always do what I tell them (especially Cait) and Deacon hardly provides any fire support}.

Question 1: can one only exit PA at PA stations? I still can NOT exit even in the middle of an empty street if not within close proximity to the PA station? (I can get in with a FC anywhere, but not get out?)

Q2, Why don't the companions fight when they are told to "stay" in a position --so that they can at least cover my flank or rear or some enemy avenue of approach while I concentrate on what (seems) like the main concentration of foes? All the companions I have used (enumerated above) have failed me in that manner, If I do not give them a "stay" command. they will run toward the enemy to engage them (except for Deacon who does not seem to do anything) instead of letting them come to us so that we can cut them down as they approach our position (usually with a couple or four mines in placed along the route(s). . . very ill disciplined companions who should have stayed shot -hence, no companion perks and I go solo (at least for now). [I miss the companions mainly in their role as mules since I have a Strength of 3.] [I need to do a search on companions to see if anyone has commented on similar experiences on the PC with the recently patched FO4.]

As I re-read this before posting, maybe Q2 should be a new thread, but I am sleepy and must get up in just a few hours so I let it go and will re-post if need be. Good night (morning) to you all. And good hunting! regards, RC

You should be able to exit PA almost everywhere. Just try to find a good flat spot. If you stay too close to walls or something else it won`t work. And hold the button.

And you can collect some PA near The Croup Manor. BOS knights regulary fight there with supemutants and there are alweays some dead knights after it.

You can exit power armor anywhere there is enough space. Hold down the "E" key and count to three.

You can find T-60 series by going to Atom Cats Garage. They sell T-60 parts there.

Just South East of the map, next to Quincy Ruins.

Again, thank you all for the super answers on PA exit. I'll try that out as soon as I finish my "honey dos" of the day. However,

Q1: where is Croup Manor? I have not run into that locale yet. (Nor the Atom Cats, but I'll head south soon looking for that Dr that defected from the Institute and hopefully as I meander along [in a So then W reverse image J from the Shamrock Brewery so that I can explore this large unknown area] I will stumble onto their location.) It is because of the Glowing Sea that I plan to use PA T60 (rads), so I need that helmet (I'll use the T45 until I do get one, or at least a better one)...

Q2: I notice that I can wear the armor frame without the other PA components (legs/arms/torso/helmet) --- does anyone know how this affects the following:

a) sneak?

b) melee combat?

c) anything else?

Sidebar/possible Q3: the current plan: I think I might give this a try when I go after DIA-cache (#2) deep inside what I believe is SuperM territory near a SkyBridge on my PIP map where I can't yet fast travel to [that starts to lay out my path to University Point (another map location I have but can't yet fast travel to) enroute to a 3rd similar non-fast travel location (Jamaica Plains) as I explore my way to the Glowing Sea and my Main Quest target] --hopefully after few days/week (real world time) I'll be at the Glowing Sea in a full suit of T60... thus, Q3: maybe the Atom Cats (and Croup Manor) are along the way?

In any case, again, thanks for the help. Happy Hunting! regards, RC
