Help! Unable to approach Fort Dawnguard

Post » Sun Mar 31, 2013 10:09 am

Hello,

The Dawnguard DLC has initialized long ago in my game, and it has been loaded in the journal indicating that I must now travel to Fort Dawnguard. The fort's location has been indicated on the map, however when I try to approach Fort Dawnguard from Riften along the road I get an indication saying 'you cannot travel that-a-way' and though I see the road ahead of me I can't approach,

Having completed main quest of Dragonborn my journal has a quest from Dragonborn DLC loaded and not yet completed called 'Lost Legacy' , could that be interfering and causing the problem.

I would be grateful for a solution.

Xarin.

It's literally south of Broken Helm Hollow by Forelhost.

Right Buddy, the problem is you are trying to go straight there. You need to find a cave that is west of Riften. Once you start going West you should happen upon a bridge that has 3 wolves on the otherwise, keep following the path until you come upon a cliff on your left, there should be a cave there.

Your prob needing to find Dayspring canyons entrance - if you head east from Riftens gate you'll eventually come across a bridge going over a small stream with waterfalls on the right hand side.

Now just carry on along the road a little bit from the bridge and on the left hand side there will be a cave entrance in the rocks which will take you into dayspring canyon - Fort Dawnguard is in there.

When you get to that point you have gone too far, I made the same mistake. After the bridge coming from Riften you will see a fallen tree on the left up a ways and a small crevice behind it. This crevice leads to Dayspring canyon which takes you to the fort.

Ok Thanks people, LOL I just highlighted the quest in my journal and now it points me on the map where I should be heading for the quest to begin.

I think a lot of people made that mistake, I know I did and I even had the quest marker on! I was oblivious that it was pointing to a cave behind me as I ran past it.
